How fast is a Police Interceptor?

I believe the Interceptor has about 10-15 more horsepower because it uses a dual exhaust, lower gearing, and a couple of other tweaks. Otherwise, it's a nice engine to mod (5.0 ltr.)
My dad is so in love with the Crown Vic because it is so spacious. In 1986 he bought an 87. It has 226k miles and still runs strong. Two years ago he bought an 89 Vic. And then two weeks ago he bought a 90 Vic. He just loves those cars, he is always complaining about how new cars are so small inside. Have you seen the trunk on these cars, you can have a picnic in there

CHP used to have alot of those in the fleet. Then they tried to replace them with the older z28 Camaros in the late 80's early 90s before the last redesign, but didn't last. Then they went Swedish and have a few Volvo S70 T5's running around here in SoCal. They are FAST!

I had an interceptor 2 years ago as a toy, but it asn;t that F@rd crap. I had a 9C1 interceptor. LS1 vette engine, beefed everything all the way around. Would flat haul ****. the 9C1 came factory with the LS1, 350turbo,stiffer body bushings, upgraded sways and bushings, and a long list of things that made it quite the performer. For more info, just google 9C1 Caprice SS Interceptor. There is a huge following for them and lot's of webrings.

Some people get pretty crazy with their PI's. They put red/ blue strobes(headlights/ tailights, interior), sirens, THE WORKS in their PI's! Then they pull people over/ other crazy stuff! Some guy around here painted his PI the same color combo as our local Highway Patrol He was caught pulling someone over and charged with impersonating an officer Some people are

A family friend is a Fla State Trooper that used to patrol in one of those "ford crap" mustangs...
His was sent out for special treatment , It was outfitted with a turbocharger and intercooler (mind you the sate of fla did this) He had a habit of getting on it.
One day he was sent from Tampa to Miami on Pope Duty with a female fhp officer.
On the was back , he must have been showing off to her, but a FHP chopper got the #'s off the roof and clocked him doing over 145mph for an EXTENDED period of time coming back up the Turnpike....
(btw hes still a trooper)

The old CHP Mustangs were pretty bad a--!
A friend of mine had an '84 ex-CHP car (carbureted car, he bought it in '87 when he was a senior in high school)- his dad was a CHP Captain, so the CHP mechanics did a few extra "tricks" to the car when the engine was rebuilt. It had so much carb and headwork, it would fall on it's face below 1500 rpm... but above that, all hell would break loose.
I drove this car in the rain one time- because of the lightened flywheel and headwork, this is almost impossible to do. Starting in second gear wasn't an option... you had to rev it to about 1500 rpm to get it moving (or it would stall), which would, of course, spin the tires violently.
In the dry, the car was a total blast. We took out numerous muscle cars, including Corvettes and Camaros (well, let's be honest, the old 5.0 Camaros were pigs). The old notchback version the CHP used was a relatively stiff and lightweight platform- perfect for a drag car.
Now, as for the late-model Ford Crown Vics... maybe it would be a close race for a GS 400 if you disconnected 2 of the GS's spark plugs...

Yup, gotta watch out for those. I usually see those on the 15 freeway between the 91 and 215 freeways. Be careful when you see a Camaro coming up behind you, you might be tempted to play, but it's not gonna be fun if you do
And to answer GStateOM's question, here's what I found:
1998-present Interceptors run 0-60 in 8.4- 8.7 seconds, 1/4 mile in the mid 16's, top speed is 129 mph.
1991-1998 0-60 in 9.1, 1/4 mile high 16's, top speed 137 mph.
