OK.... i need to try to understand this. Some 17year olds on here have some really nice cars. Are these your personal cars? Your parents? Or did your parents just but it for you guys. When i was 17 i had a 1990 Maxima (which i paid for). You guys are definetly lucky and blessed to have such beautiful cars at young ages.

Ok, I just had a look; a typical 2002 LS430 can be bought for around US$32k on ebay. Thats around the price of an optioned up (new) camry in Australia. A 2002 LS430 costs the equivelant of US$93k here (judging by CarSales.com.au), though 2000/2001 models are significantly cheaper.
Still an impressive purchase for someone under 20 in my eyes though!!! i had trouble getting $5000 for an '86 Celica when i was 20! (I drank beyond my means back then)

Hey guys.
How i got these cars my self was I got very lucky & got into real estate in Las Vegas when it was very low then everything went up 50+ % First car was a SC400 then I got a LX470 to work in real estate now geting a GS430.
You are right most of us still do live with our parents I do have my own house but I rented it out my father doesnt want me to move because our mother passed a littel less then a year ago he wants our family to be as one.
The LX470 is a lease that way I can wright it off in tax's for work. The sc400 is payed off in full & so will the GS430 Im bringing cash
BTW ouch that sucks over 60k for a IS300 ( I feel your pain

Finally, cars are MUCH cheaper there. I doubt these guys have to pay US$60k for an IS300 like we do. We have alot of taxes on our cars here, and as a result, second hand cars are more expensive here too..
After what this guy told me, i really want to move there too. Australia is nice, but think of the cars!!!
BTW, I'm 25, i drive a '94 Accord which was a regretful step down from my '92 Toyota Soarer (Lexus SC400)

23 and I own an 2003 LS430.
To answer MoFunk...it's because, unfortunately, most American's, especially young ones, live WAY above their means. This country is drowning in debt. The other major reason is leasing. $700/mo cars magically become $350 a month with leasing. The only problem? You don't own the car. It's a rental. :-/

The LS430 is about $AU70,000 cheaper in the US than it is here...dear lord that is ridiculous. Iwent to all the other major luxury makes too...jesus, my parents recently purchased a M-Benz SL500...the sticker price in Aus is $AU 300,000 ...the american Sticker price is the equivalent to $AU 160,000!!! JESUS CHRIST!! that's NEARLY HALF OF WHAT WE PAY HERE!!!
I knew that there would be a difference but i had no idea that the gap was THAT big...lord.
But...i still love this beautiful country of ours...just wish the government would change the tax system properly. Howard...the GST was bleeding useless.
