Ah yes, chrysler..... the same company that just issued a full scale recall because the wheels would just FALL OFF going down the road.

Lexus for me

Not a bad looking car for the money I guess.......it's too blocky & slab sided for my taste however......but the KILLER? It's a Chrysler!!

I rented a 300 Touring for a week. It was good in many aspects but bad in many:

Good:
Style.
Value.
Interior design and quality materials.
Decent V6 power it can get up and go.

Bad:
-Huge gaps
-Poor (I mean aweful) handling. If I go 50% throttle on a 90 degree turn the Stability control kicks in so it's like I've run into a sand bar. Feels as if engine and brakes are fighting it out. No other car I've driven has such intrusive Stability control.
-Ultra smushy ride. You can't feel when you hit a pot-hole, but when you turn or stop the car leans or bobs way (I mean WAY) too much
-limited trunk room for such a large car
-limited rear head room for such a lage car
-Seems to lack traction in the rear (probably due to tire choice). In the wet if I tap the gas it lights up the rear tires like a smoky drag strip tire warm up. (Unacceptable).
-No way to shift the AT maually. (Come on this should be easy as pie)

Why buy anything else?

Because any **** who works for AC can lease one for $129 a month and they are everywhere up here!

I agree that the euros are not worth almost 20K more. A Lexus GS430 AWD (if they offer it on the 430).........MAYBE There is a BIG difference between Chrysler and Lexus quality.....trust me.

i must admit i love the styling, reliability, not sure yet cause this car is so new, the interior sucks, there is no way i would sell my 98 gs and buy a car with interior this cheap, the back seat felt like a boat seat, the panels are so cheap, too much plastic for me, maybe if i drove a tahoe or taurus i would buy one, but lexus to chrysler, no way, also in so cali they are still asking 5k over, if u are lucky 2000 over sticker, i would never buy an american car for sticker, can u imagine how much these owners will be losing in the next year on this car, just ask the people tha purchased the pt cruiser when it first came out

I agree. I drove one of these, but I really wasn't looking at the interior as much as paying attention to the driving. But I have spent a weekend in a $40k Dodge Magnum Hemi and the interior looked very cheap. It made my 95 Camry look like a luxury car and this was the fully loaded top of the line model. It would be a damn shame if Toyota ever tried to stick that cheap stuff into a base $19k Camry.

Although I like the style, the interior was the biggest turn off. Looks great, but inside, it is a typical american car. But that was the Magnum.

Have we forgotten the title to this thread? It says why buy any other AMERICAN sedan. So far it's been compared with mostly imports and even Lexus numerous times.

Let's compare it to GM's and Ford's. Then we will see how easily superior this car is. I can't believe the bashing on the interior it's getting. Has anyone sat in a GM product (ever)? The 300 looks like a Benz in comparison.

For it to be even compared to Lexus, is part of my write-ups point. Hey, I wouldnt buy one either.lol

And its built by our Candian neighbors. In Ontario.

OK, although more expensive I'd take an STS over the 300 every time. I even think the Ford 500 is a higher quality vehicle than the 300. I took a close look at a loaded one recently that was in a parking lot, and the interior looked NICE. Although long in the tooth now I'd probably take a Lincoln LS V8 over the 300.

OK if it's only american cars, then I agree that the 300(c) is a best buy. But I still can't understand why you can't put a more quality looking interior into a car with a high end price of over $40k. This is the car's biggest flaw. Well, I think most american cars have flaws, but that's a long story

Love the power on the hemi. It has very good low end torque. I wish my stock GS had that low end power, but the GS4 would eat it up in high speeds. The handling could be better but the ride was alright. Overall, I would take it over any other american car at it's price range (haven't driven a CTS yet). But as a whole, I won't even bring in a Lexus. I'd take a Camry over it. Or Accord, or Maxima, which also has a cheap looking interior.

But no complaints about the looks of this car.

I agree - but Bit, next time you're out - go around to the boot and check out the lid. Every five-hundred I've encountered so far has major fitment issues back there. Honestly - higher tolerences for panels than on my Sentra.

Otherwise - I'm impressed with the Five-Hundred.

The Chrysler 300's interior is just unacceptable given the relatively high price and the fact that the car is built on an existing platform (previous generation E-class).

The STS is just pure sex - and I mean that; an absolutely phenomenal vehicle. If you haven't witnessed one first-hand - go have a look.

If I had ~ $60 grand just sitting around - I'd be all over the STS. Best American sedan - EVER (in my book).

M.
