no self respecting man would ever drive an echo

i would personally take the 240 because you can have some fun drifting it! miata or mr2 would be fun too... 3z is probably too bad on gas to be a daily. i dunno.. i was never really into really economical cars... daily drivers or not.

I once thought that, too. I have since been able to overcome my machoist male ego and realize that a car is just car; something to get you from point A to point B and nothing else. Sure it would be fun to have something faster or sportier, but think of the other benefits such as the money I´ll be saving and the cleaner air we will all be breathing.

I fully agree. I don't believe in automotive stereotypes either. In my lifetime, I've seen young people driving conservative luxury cars, older ladies driving Corvettes, macho-type men driving Beetle Convertibles and minivans, and older adults driving so-called "hip" cars like the Scion xA / xB. This idea that certain vehicles can be driven by one group of persons and not another is pure nonsense.

1) 2002-2003 Toyota Echo coupe. Not much to look at and bare bones car, but 35/40 mpg
2) mid 90's Honda Prelude (preferably a VTEC, but if not an Si) Good styling, decent gas mileage, but front wheel drive
3) 95-98 Nissan 240SX- Decent power, decent gas mileage, and rear wheel drive

I won't be doing any mods at first, so I am looking for something with some decent performance out of the box. Also, mods could be in the future, so if anyone could chime in with possibilities and ease of modding for options 2 and 3, that would help. Also, insurance costs between these three would help.
Basically, I would like the Echo with 40mpg, but don't know if I could stay satisfied with it long term due to the low performance.
Any imput would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim

I think the 240 has avg gas mileage. If you mod it, say goodbye to gas mileage. Your gonna drive it hard. The Prelude is cool too.

I would buy a car I would not drive hard, thus save gas. Out of personal experience, I recommend a89-92 or so Nissan Sentra. Reliable, sporty in SE-R trim and good space with great gas mileage.
