It's actually called the canvas top.
Many domestic luxury cars from the 80s and 90s had this option. It makes the car more expensive looking, not cheap and ugly.
Applying such thing to newer cars, oh well is like having a big hood ornament on a new BMW. You get the picture.

Wow...the best new gen caddy, THE BEST, and someone who's 60 in gator loafers and "stepping to the name of love" decided to take it back to the 70s with this abortion. And for god's sake, did the LIFT the car???
Look, I understand everyone has their own style but that is hideous. Sorry guys who like it but that car SUCKS. Screw it, they can do what they want with their money.

My best friend and I used to have some fun with the the Caddy / Town Car crowd that insisted on fake roofs...
When at a light next to one, we'd roll down the windows and tell them they should "put the top down" lol
They'd usually reply with something along the lines of "Oh, it's not a real convertible, it's just cosmetic" yada yada.
We tried not to laugh too much but it was difficult. Like they say, no accounting for taste. I always found it extremely tacky, but hey, there's something for everyone right?
Haven't seen a Lex with one yet, and I pray i do not.

Dan, I've heard an ugly rumor that domestic dealers are once again pushing add-on landau tops, esp at the Caddy dealers (which makes me want to say: well, off course!). Including those stupid bars on the C-pillar.
This is a disturbing phenomenon............can you imagine someone stepping up to a V-series Cadillac and telling the salesman "I gotta have one of them vinyl top things on the back and put some of them S-shaped thingies back there, too."?

Canvas may be hideous. But nothing is worse than having one of those shiny fake spare wire wheel housing mounted on the back of your car.
Just imagine a new STS with that thingy on its back. Wahoo!

This clown added a CTS-V front, mesh grill then tops it off with ugly chrome wheels and vouge tires. OMG.
Now this is how u do it!
To top it off, I saw a new STS TODAY, at Wal-Mart white, vouge tires with small chrome rims and the beige cloth top. Atrocious. ESPECIALLY, since I think the STS is a pretty damn good looking car.
