Default Has anyone heard the Crown Athlete may come to US

I thought I remember people saying before we may get the Crown Athlete in the future. Does anyone know anything about that?

I know. Why couldn't they just have given us this instead of the new GS?

The website says it has the 3GR-FSE and 4GR-FSE...DOHC V6 with either 2.5 or 3.0L of displacement.

It says 256ps (about 250hp) for the 3GR and 215ps (about 210 or so hp) for the 4GR.

However, the Crown Majesta has 280ps (276 hp) fromt the 3UZ-FE, the same 4.3L V8 in all 430 Lexi.

As much as I personally would love to see the car here, it'll never happen. Too close to the GS. The average Toyota/Lexus consumer would be quite confused.

What if Toyota brought it over as a Toyota - right above the Avalon in price?

The marketing direction would be obvious. The Crown could be placed right below Lexus vehicles; which are no-doubt moving upscale along w/ the rest of the Lexus brand once Lex drops the LF-A into showrooms.

It's true, I think, about the average consumer being confused - but I'd LOVE to see Toyota bring the car stateside as a Toyota. The first RWD Toyota sedan in the States since the Cressida (which I still maintain is a tight ride).

W0rd. My mother had an '87 Black with 5M-GE. To this day I have the dreams of installing a 7M-GTE in there. I loved that car. One of the first with aerodynamic lights (glass, no less) at the time and just a gorgeous car. I had way too much fun in it.

Maybe as a Scion? The Euro only Toyota Avenesis was going to be badged a Scion (like how Honda badged and brought over the Euro Accord and called it the TSX) but decided it was not sporty enough. And its not, is the Crown sportier?

How can they make a car nicer than the Avalon (Toyota's Flagship) a Scion?

Isn't the whole point of Scion cheap, good cars for Gen. Y'ers? Or are they going full range now?

If they brought over the Crown, I'd be right in line for one but we never get the good, good stuff.

Yeah, the Cressida was a tight whip, I remember back in the day seeing them rolling on chromes with limo tint....
