Honestly - enough is left to distinguish the Lexus that I don't think you guys have to worry.

And my front wheels would blow off
And I would blast into space.
The end.

Don't laugh. While Hyundai overall is still not quite in Lexus territory quality-wise, it beats virtually anything now with a American or European nameplate, and, IMO, still trails only a few Japanese nameplates.

You're living in the past. Hyundai was once indeed a joke. No more. Even Consumer Reports.....perhaps the biggest skeptic of all.......now places them on their recommended list.
You don't have to take my word....or anybody else's....for it. Don't just look at Hyundai photos here on CL . Go see the new Hyundai products for yourself first-hand at an auto show or dealership. Examine the paint. The sheet metal quality. Solidness and fit of materials. Panel gaps. Door openings / closings. Fabric / leather. Test-drive some. Then look at the sticker prices. Last of all, look at the warranty.
Then come back here and see if you still feel the same way.
Believe me.....as a free-lance auto consultant, I was Mr. Skeptic if there ever was one. I thought that the 1987 Hyundai Excel and 1984 Pontiac Fiero were the two worst new cars I ever looked at....and test-drove. Hyundai left a sour reputation in my mouth for years. I didn't recommend a single one until about 3 or 4 years ago. But the company has shown literally enormous improvement in the last 5 years...and its corporate partner Kia to a little lesser extent.. Everyone I know who has bought a late-model Hyundai....from the Accent all the way to the XG350...has been well-pleased, with minimal problems. I'd consider buying one myself except that they don't make the exact type of vehicles I look for.

CR's recommends anything that has good reliabiliy and crash ratings. Hyundai is trying to keep costs down by copying others styling. I can understand that, but GM stealing, and then their execs smartass remarks about Toyota is just pathetic
Corvette - Ferrari noses
Malibu - Camry like rear and doors
new Impala - old Q45 wheels and sideprofile, doors off Camry
new G6 Cpe and Vert - blatant copy of Solara rear and Tiburon styling
new Sky - similar to MR2 sideprofile
CTS - rip off of Ford's fusion concept
Toyota is accused of stealing themes (automobile mag) even though usually as in the case of the Avalon it is mostly if not all fictional.

It also has to pass their acceleration, handling, ride both empty and loaded, braking, and emergency handling tests. It has to be reasonably comfortable for all occupants. The controls and gauges have to work well and be legible. It has to be reasonably easy to get in and out of.
After this....and other criteria......then and only THEN does it get the coveted "Recommended" rating.
