i just want confirmation that the 911S did 0-60 in 3.9s.
can that be correct?
by the way, i think the c6 get first, boxsterS 2nd and 911S 3rd (price figured in of course)

I would substitute the Honda S2000 for the Boxster. It has a far higher quality level coming from the factory, is much more reliable, has about the same HP ratings as a Boxster ( though at a much higher RPM and with less torque ), pretty much equals (or even exceeds it ) on the skidpad, has a better shifter ( one of the best on the market ) and generally costs about 10K less. You can also access the engine for service checks and do-it-yourself oil changes....something that Porsche arrogantly does not allow with the Boxster's sealed hood.

There is no conventional hood as such. Perhaps the best way to describe it is a sealed-off engine compartment that, for the most part, cannot be reached from above (except for a very few functions). You have to put it on a lift for most things...including simple service. Porsche didn't want owners doing things themselves.
This feature, IMO, was one of the most idiotic auto features to come out of Germany...next to Chris Bangle's I-Drive.

mm, part of the reason for the Boxster's service access difficulty is just inherent in the mid-engine configuration. Porsche's record in that regard goes all the way back to the 914; the 4 cylinder was bad enough but the 914-6 damn near required the engine to be dropped to change the spark plugs!!!
Just not much room.............

DrDrilZ........didn't see the actual as-tested prices but I'll take your word for it. I think, though, a base Boxster and a base C6 are pretty close in price....low-to-mid-40's. Still, it proves even more that for the same money a Boxster is not in the ' Vette's league.

I think R&T said that car was broken in w/3000 mi. I don't think the Carrera is faster than the base C6, I believe its trap speeds are lower. Its rear wt bias gives it a better launch
