Default MB drops free Maintenance for 05

Mercedes-Benz Maintenance System1 The Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Plan makes caring for your 2005 Mercedes easier than ever. The service intervals are fixed and predictable - every 13,000 miles or one year for most vehicles2 . Your car will even remind you - about one month before it's due. Your dealer provides a Service Welcome that includes a first visit (between 1,000 and 3,000 miles) and your first tire rotation (before 6,500 miles) at no charge.*

*See your authorized Mercedes-Benz Dealer for details

Mercedes Optional Extended Limited Warranty Within one year from the start date of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty the original owner can purchase extended Basic or Premium Warranty Coverage for an additional 12, 24, or 36 months - up to 100,000 total accrued miles.3

1. The Flexible Service System and included Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Commitment have been discontinued as of model year 2005.

Eh, it'll be in the bay before the scheduled maintenance anyway. Put me in front of a Mercedes salesman and watch how hard it is to sell me an extended warranty.

"Would you like an extended (interrupts) YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!"

I was wondering when they'd stop the free scheduled maintenance. You already have hundreds of people coming in to service those unreliable cars. Then you add hundreds more who wouldn't ordinarily get regular maintenance done if it wasn't free. That's over working your service dept. Something had to give.

I don't own a benz and keep inventory of what makes offer what services at any given time, common sence would tell me that yes people do know they dropped it but if your don't deal with MB in any given way how would you know they dropped the maintenance.

A friend from another forum with a G500 mentioned they did away with it so I felt I'd share with the fellow clublexus people, I read alot of information hear so I try to return the favor

Now I do know MB owners who will not be return buyers cause of this, MB seems to be steadily going downhill, they should be giving out vouchers for Lexus test drives, seem to be where the owners are going anyways

You must be visiting the Ghetto Lexus Specialists, because Lexus servcie is top notch and their "Jap parts" are the worlds most dependable production parts on the planet, but don't take my word for it..... every major vehicle reviewer on the planet will say it for me.

Not to crush the folks who think their buying Lexus only parts, when the Lexus tech returns from the parts counter with whatever he needs to service your Lexus the parts are identical to the ones they put into Toyota and since most Lex and Toyota dealers are owned by the same guy/corporation they are using the same fluid in both expect where Toyota fluid is required, hey look at that your Lexus takes Toyota fluid

The Ghetto thats funny, Lexus dealers are not in the Ghetto, most Lexus dealership are all in nice middle to upper income areas and as far as the prices on their service, my ES300 has a $600, 5k service and the 15k is $1300, I'd rather go to Toyota with equal and faster service and pay a thrid what the Lexus dealer charges, now when I get an LS I guess cause it's unique I have to take it to Lex but I'll still check out Toyota

First, i'm sorry to report you are wrong. Lexus made toyota parts are specific to Lexus. Try swapping power steering hoses just as a small example. Toyota one's are single to double layered, Lexus are triple layered. Everything about the Lexus design is double beefy. Working with hands on experience (such as I have) V/S assumptions will net you vast knowledge about Lexus parts. The only crossover vehicle is the ES300, in which there are *some* parts that do indeed crossover.

That "rebadged toyota" line won't fly with people who KNOW more than sticking the key in it and driving around.

Another FYI for you - every single part on the lexus is stamped Toyota, not Lexus. There are no parts stamped Lexus, they do not exist beyond cosmetic items. The obviousness of which who makes these parts is beyond a blind man's guess.

EDIT-Whoops, just noticed you drive an ES, i understand your POV now.

Must have hit a nerve, you parts counter guys think you know everything I may drive an ES but what does that have anything to do with it, so now your gonna tell me they use the same parts on my ES as a Camry but save the special parts for Lexus

The ES is an exception, oh wait a minute, the LX shares parts with the LandCruiser and the GX shares parts with the V8 4Runner.

I like how you added in that "rebadged toyota" line won't fly, you brought it up I know plenty of people who have Toyotas who could not afford the Lexus, Lexus adds in many features to differentiate the price increase, most importantly is better warranties.

As for your power steering hose, Toyota Corporate phases out parts all the time, Toyota does not make their own hoses they use parts distributors, I’ve crossed checked parts from 2 Toy dealers and the Lexus Dealer, you can’t tell me Lexus has higher quality parts when the belts, hoses, filter and everything else have the exact same serial numbers printed on the boxes, what are you gonna tell me now.

Tell me why it is such a better bargain to buy an oil filter from Lexus (90915-YZZD1) for 10 bucks and the same filter from a Toyota Dealer (90915-YZZD1) is $3.50

Their are no differences between Toyota and Lexus parts, they may double or triple layer hoses for the LS430 or the GS430 but don’t tell me parts that can be uses in identical applications are different, I was a Toyota Tech and the Corporation owned several dealerships, 1 other being Lexus and the Lexus Tech where in the shop all the time taking parts.

What on earth are you two arguing about? Is Edge saying Lexus is just a glorified Toyota while OLT is saying it's not? Then OLT says every part is stamped Toyota? What?
