You can believe that markeing mumbo jumbo "Standard of the world" stuff as Caddy makes the best American cars and has revitalized their lineup but they are FAR from the standard of the world. .
I grew up with BIG Cadillacs that in many ways WERE the standard of the World...... but that was LONG ago. After the mid-late 1970's their quality took a downturn that is comparable to M-B's in the late 90's....and has been more or less a joke ever since. Caddy is beginning to put SOME nice touches on their cars once again, though....like the V-series wire mesh grille (very nice) and the new STS interior (even nicer).
Granted, though, they still are not built to Lexus standards.
You would think that with all the money M-B has collected from this guy they could come up with a little better electronics.
I still have some of these cars including the top 3. They will more than pay for good electronics. In addition they have provided me with a heck of a lot of enjoyment. None of which has given me the grief that the 2004 SC 430 gave me (a subject that I prefer not to discuss again). So let's stop talking about the wonders of any Marque. You will find a turd in any of them as I found in the Lexus heap over the last 10 months. If we are still both here in 20 years, let's discuss the relative timeliness of any Lexus vs the 300 Gullwing, Roadster and the 300 SC Roadster. Probably won't happen with any Lexus or for that matter any auto built within the last 20 years. More specifically your IS 300.
The difference here is that I have "been there" and am not a critic based on what I read or post on forums. You somewhat remind me of a judge at a show 15 years ago when I was showing the Gullwing, Roadster and the 300 SC, he was extremely critical of all 3 (all of which were 100 point cars at the time). After the show, I watched him get into his car and drive off into the sunset in his Ford Pinto.
Enough said; As "they" say enough of this dribble.
