I have finally crossed over to the dark side.
Sooooooo after painstaking research and repeated attempts to stay loyal to MB i bought a used 2000 ES300 Platinum Edition. Why do you ask? I dont know.
I just saw a good deal and i bought it. I consider this my "tester" before i get a NEW lexus. I'm still not so trusting of the brand...sooooo yeah...i'll see how this car is before i make my final decision to get the new GS300.
You may ask why i didn't get a gen 2 aristo...well...i had only $18K set aside for petty cash so i bought this car on a whim. Dont have enough to get a gen 2 GS400/430 like i wanted.
So far so good though. The car is surprisingly quiet. I was driving like 105 and i didn't hear anything still. Very impressed...

It's hard to imagine someone who owns a 2005 SLK55 AMG and is soon to own a 2006 CLS55 AMG has only $18K to set aside.

Woah, woah. CLS55 AMG, on order?? And you have 18 grand left over for petty cash, so you decided to buy another car?? Man, if you really dont know what to do with your petty cash, you can just give it to me, donate it to the "Mag needs mod money fund", or I can right out an I.O.U. and be set. LOL. j/p.
Anyway, congrats on making the switch. I'm sure you will enjoy. Thats a beautiful collection of MB's with some expensive mods I see. Thats pretty damn exclusive. I was on their site the other day and some guy had a 2005 SL65 AMG in silver, 2005 E55 AMG Wagon in silver, and a CLS55 AMG in black. What a line up to have in your garage.

personally though, if you wanna consider a lexus, i wuldn't get the 06 gs300/gs430. first of all, they are going to get newer engines next yr, probably faster as well. plus, first yr model usually you see some problems and bugs. give them some time to fix them before diving into it?

haha i'm 22 now....and none of ya'll bastards said happy bday. of course it was like back in the beginning of feb, but it's ok.
SLK is not done yet. When i get it back from the shop, i'll post pictures. It's getting some work done on it.
As for the ES...it's a good car. I'm still going nuts over how quiet it is.
Of course when i told my dad like 20 mins ago he started laughing at me. He started calling my brother, uncles, mom, aunts, cousins and told them i got a lexus. I could hear the laughter over the conference line...i guess it's because i'm the 1st one in the family to get a Lexus. Oh well...i think i would laugh at me too if i had what they drive.

they drive S600's, S55's daily. Between my dad and his older brother they have like 30-40 some odd rare cars stored. Like old 1955 300SL Gullwings and 1959 Ferrari 250 GTs. They go to Barratt-Jackson like compulsive heroin addicts to their dealer.

like you, i was the first one in the family to get a lexus.
dad has a S-class back home. mom uses a C-class. my sis is getting a CLK.
but its just fun to be driving a different car than all the rest. my dad often compares the
quietness of the car to the merc he often sits in.
