I am really waiting to get all the questions answered on price and drive one for myself. I thought it would be between this and the new 7 but I assume the 5GT is going to come here as well and that is probably about it for what I will be driving next.

Can't say I am overly impressed with the buttons but my hope, like most cars, is that you don't use very many to just get in and drive. At least there's no screwball iDrive/Command/MMI mouseketeer.
Clearly smaller but I love the Jag XK hatch!

interior is incredible, although two nits...

1) the screens on the back of the front seats were in ridiculously huge enclosures.

2) the rear seat head rests should be removable for better rear visibility.

but other than that, the whole car is hawt.

Default Newly released Porsche Panamera interior shots.

Looks better than the outside imo. The German do amazing thing to the interiors of the cars they make

Porsche has released the first batch of official images of the interior of the new Panamera. Unlike the hump-backed exterior, the inside is much easier on the eyes and features what may be the first actual usable rear seats ever in a Porsche car (not counting the Cayenne). The images released today show off a two-tone color scheme with a center console featuring an array of switches very reminiscent of one of Nokia's high end-Vertu phones. The steering wheel has thumb switches (like those of the 911) allowing the driver to manually select the ratio of the seven-speed PDK dual clutch gearbox. A large navigation screen dominates the center of the instrument panel while two more are available to entertain the backseat passengers. Backseat accommodations appear to be just as capable as those up front, if less adjustable.

I hated the Cayenne for 4-6 years, I bashed it all I could on the forums but one day I was bored, took a test drive at Los Angles Autogallery, and fell in love, now look, I own one!

will the same thing happen with this, I guess I have to wait and find out.

I like the front end, interior, just can't get past the rear, lmao

Not sure if this has been posted by another member but here it is!

US launch is set for October. prices will start at $90,000.

Porsche unveils Panamera cabin photos, details

Porsche AG released official photos and details of its upcoming Panamera's "cockpit for four." We've already had a look at the exterior and seen some blurry pictures of the dashboard, but this is our first clear look at the gran turismo's interior.

Porsche will offer the interior in 13 color and material combinations including four two-tone leather interiors and seven interior trim options including carbon fiber to Natural Olive wood.

Cabin tech comes in the form of a new ultra high-end surround sound system from renowned Berlin audio manufacturer Burmester. While this is the first that we've heard from Burmester here at Car Tech, we're anxious to give this 16-speaker plus a subwoofer, 1,000 plus watt audio system a listen.

The Panamera will also be available with the latest connectivity features, including Bluetooth, Porsche's Universal Audio Interface for connecting personal audio devices, and satellite radio.

This being "spare no expense" Porsche, the cabin is luxuriously appointed with an available four-zone climate control system giving each of the four seats temperature, air distribution and venting direction control. Spec a Panamera S or 4S and you get eight-way power seats in front with a driver memory package. Spec a Turbo and you also get an electronically adjustable steering wheel. Buyers with monty to burn can further choose optional 18-way Adaptive Sport Seats (which we assume are feature some sort of active bolstering, like the Mercedes-Benz CL 550 tested earlier) or fully adjustable eight-way power seats in the rear.

The Panameras will be available with two engine options, a 400-horsepower, 4.8-liter V-8 and a 500-horsepower, twin-turbocharged version of the same block. Porsche's PDK double-clutch transmission is standard, as is Porsche Direct Fuel Injection (DFI).

Here's something that threw us for a loop: For additional fuel savings, all Panameras include an engine stop-start function that can turn off and restart the engine at certain times, like when stopped at an intersection or in traffic. Nice, I'll take my Porsche in green, please.

The rear-wheel drive Panamera S has an MSRP is $89,800. Upgrade to the all-wheel drive Panamera 4S for $93,800. Finally, the big boy, 500-horsepower Panamera Turbo, with its 0-to-60 time of 4 seconds flat, comes in at $132,600. All three Panamera models will go on sale in the United States this October.

2010 Porsche Panamera – Official Photos and Info - Car News

Big? Yes. Beautiful? No. Porsche tests the mettle of its loyal fans once again.
BY STEVE SILER, PHOTOGRAPHY BY DAN SCHERBER, BRENDA PRIDDY & COMPANY, AND THE MANUFACTURER
November 2008

After years of waiting and dozens of sightings by car spies, we’ve finally gotten a non-grainy and camouflage-free official look at the first performance sedan in Porsche’s history, the Panamera. And, well, let’s put it this way: if you can handle the Cayenne SUV, you can probably handle the Panamera.
Not that we love it. Indeed, we’re not going to sugar-coat things here: some of us flat-out hate the look of this big, flat-nosed, bustle-backed five-door. The more diplomatic among us are cautiously optimistic that the Panamera will merely take some getting used to. It’s the same swirl of controversy that surrounded the introduction of the Cayenne, which initially all but sent Porsche purists to the psych ward, but has ultimately become respected, if not loved.
The 500-hp Hatchback
“The symbiosis of sports-car DNA derived from the looks of a coupe, the unique interpretation of the classical sedan body and the benefits of a variable space concept give the new Porsche a truly unmistakable appearance.” That’s how Porsche describes the Panamera, and we probably couldn’t come up with a more flattering choice of words ourselves. Certainly, it couldn’t have been easy for Porsche to translate trademark 911 elements onto a front-engine, four-door body without giving it a nose as tall and blunt as that of the BMW 7-Series, and for that, we think Porsche deserves some credit. We also enjoy the fact that the Panamera’s high level of performance will be coupled with the innate practicality of a hatchback.
As for the performance itself? We know Porsche’s going to bring it in a big way, with engines ranging from a 300-hp V-6 to a 500-hp turbocharged V-8—and later, a hybrid powertrain. Those engines are likely the same basic units found in the Cayenne, and judging from the models shown in the official photos—a Panamera S, a 4S, and a Turbo—the nomenclature should carry over as well. A six-speed traditional manual or Porsche’s superb seven-speed PDK automated manual will be available on the nonhybrid models. And like the Cayenne, the Panamera will be available with all-wheel drive.
Unique and Sporting Cockpit Times Four
Porsche did not offer us any interior images, but we recently ran some spy shots of the Panamera interior that appear to match Porsche’s description of the cabin as “unique and sporting.” Porsche promises a cockpit-like environment for all four passengers, each getting sculpted bucket seats. The rearmost pair will fold forward, extending the cargo area into what we expect will be one of the most expansive of any luxury car on the market. Additional photos first published by Carscoop.com and available in our gallery show that the cargo hold will swallow four roller bags with ease, and roof rails appear to be headed for the optional accessories list. We're also intrigued by the spoiler on the Turbo, which seems to suggest the wing will not only deploy upward—like those on the Boxster, Cayman, and 911—but that it will also widen, as well.
Specific details on powertrains, performance estimates, prices, and equipment will be disclosed next spring when we officially see the car in the metal at its auto-show reveal. It will go on sale in the U.S. next fall.
All said, we welcome the Panamera. Had it come before the controversial Cayenne, we wouldn’t even want to drive it. But we do. After all, Porsche builds not just rewarding sports cars but capable 5000-lb SUVs, so we’re relatively confident that it can build a good sports sedan. We only wish it could have also been a good-looking sports sedan.

Default Porsche releases complete pricing on Panamera for the UK

Porsche releases complete pricing on Panamera for the UK

Mar 13th 2009 at 9:26AM

Last month, Porsche announced U.S. pricing for its upcoming Panamera luxury sedan. Today, we get official word on UK pricing for the all-new model. The standard rear-wheel drive Panamera S with a 400-hp V8, good for 0-62 mph sprints in 5.4 seconds (according to the automaker), will start with a base price of £72,266. Meanwhile, pricing for the Panamera 4S will begin at £77,269. That model's all-wheel drive system helps it launch 0-62 mph in just 5.0 seconds. The range-topping AWD Panamara Turbo, with 0-62 mph in 4.2 seconds, lists at £95,298.

Only the Panamera S will be offered with a six-speed manual gearbox -- the 4S and Turbo models receive Porsche's seven-speed PDK (dual-clutch) transmission as standard equipment. As is typical with Porsche, there is an extensive options menu that includes a full leather interior, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Communication Management, bi-xenon headlamps, rear ParkAssist, and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). The standard wheels are 18-inch alloys on the Panamera and Panamera S models while the Panamera Turbo sports 19-inch aluminum wheels. Of course, Porsche will offer 20-inch wheels to those who like to slalom potholes.

Default Press release

Porsche confirms pricing for new Panamera Gran Turismo

Porsche has confirmed UK prices for its forthcoming four seat Panamera gran turismo, which goes on sale on 12 September 2009. The four door performance car will be priced from £72,266 for the Panamera S, £77,269 for the Panamera 4S and £95,298 for the top of the range Panamera Turbo.

The Porsche Panamera will be available with powerful and efficient V8 power units, the choice of rear or four-wheel drive, and an interior design with a uniquely luxurious and high technology ambience.

The rear-wheel drive Porsche Panamera S is offered with a six-speed manual gearbox. The seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) double-clutch transmission is available as an option for £2,289. The Panamera 4S and Turbo have four-wheel drive and feature the PDK gearbox as standard. The active all-wheel drive system is controlled by Porsche Traction Management (PTM) via a multi-plate clutch that adjusts the engine power distribution between the front and rear axles for increased grip and agility.

The Porsche Panamera offers a unique symbiosis of sporting performance and sheer luxury. Every model offers a full leather interior, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Bi-Xenon headlights, rear ParkAssist, tyre pressure monitoring, automatic dimming rear view mirrors, Porsche Communication Management with touch-screen satellite navigation and audio controls, and a Bluetooth telephone module – complete with cordless handset for use by rear seat passengers.

The heated front seats fitted as standard in the Panamera S and 4S are of a sporting style, and can be adjusted electrically in eight different directions for optimum comfort. Adaptive sports seats with higher side bolsters are available as an option across the range.

Standard on all Panamera models is the 'Sport' button, which increases throttle pedal responsiveness, selects the 'Sport' suspension setting on the PASM, and the shift patterns of the PDK transmission, where fitted. Offered in combination with PDK is the new Porsche Auto Start/Stop function. This automatically switches off and restarts the engine when stationary to further reduce fuel consumption and emissions – for example, at traffic lights or in congestion.

The Panamera S and 4S have 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, with a choice of 19-inch and 20-inch alternatives available. The Panamera Turbo rides on 19-inch alloy wheels. As is typical of a Porsche, the braking system of the Panamera is designed to deliver a high level of stopping power. However, similar to all other Porsche models, the race-proven and highly efficient Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) option is also offered for the Panamera.

Additional features on the Panamera Turbo include PASM with an adaptive air suspension function that actively adjusts the ride height, BOSE® Surround Sound audio system with 14 speakers, metallic paint, multi-function steering wheel, heated rear seats and rear side airbags. Also, the 14-way electric front seat adjustment has a Comfort Memory Package for the various seat positions and the electrically adjustable steering column.

The Panamera offers comprehensive levels of active and passive safety across the range. In addition to Porsche Stability Management (PSM), there are driver and front passenger airbags, curtain airbags as well as – on the front seats – side and knee airbags, each ensuring maximum protection as standard features in the event of an accident. Rear seat side airbags are available as an option on the Panamera S and 4S.

A luxurious journey is guaranteed in any of the four seats in the Panamera but, for passengers in the rear, the option of electrically adjustable backrests, cushion length and lumbar support raises the standard further still. It is also possible to specify rear seat ventilation, and a comprehensive rear interior illumination package with high power reading lights.

For customers seeking the ultimate in-car audio experience, the Panamera is the first Porsche to offer the option of a High-End Surround Sound System from Burmester®, the renowned Berlin audio specialist. A total of 16 loudspeakers masterminded by 16 amplifier channels with an overall output of more than 1,000 watts provide a unique sound, complemented by an active subwoofer together with a 300 W Class D amplifier.

The superior, yet practical, driving qualities of the Panamera are borne out clearly by the luggage compartment. Opening the rear lid reveals a load capacity of 445 litres (15.6 cu ft) in the Panamera S and 4S. Maximum stowage in the Panamera Turbo is 432 litres or (15.1 cu ft). With the rear seat back rests folded, luggage capacity in all models increases to an ample 1,250 litres or 43.8 cu ft.

Every Panamera has the assurance of a Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (VTS), a sophisticated vehicle security package approved to Thatcham Category 5 standard, and customers will also be able to explore the potential of their new car by participating in a complimentary course at the new Porsche Driving Experience Centre, Silverstone.
