Porsche, the once unassailable leader in the sports car segment, has proven that it's not completely immune from global economic conditions but the brand is at a crossroads and a raft of new models could see it rise to the top once again. This turn around is being led by the new 2010 Porsche Panamera
Porsche’s new four-door Panamera is off to a really good start in the United States. According to Porsche Cars North America COO Michael Bartsch, the automaker has sold 983 units of the Panamera sedan, which went on sale in the U.S. on Oct. 17.
“We now have a new level of floor traffic and inquiry, and there is a multiplier effect,” Bartsch said in an interview with Automotive News. “This is bringing a level of business back to the dealerships and is allowing them to start the process of recovering.”
Bartsch would not provide a forecast as to how many Panamera units Porsche hopes to sell in the U.S. in 2010 due to uncertain market conditions. However, he did say that he expects to receive up to 1200 orders for the Panamera in the U.S. in 2009. In 2010, Porsche has plans to produce 20,000 Panamera units, with 4,000 to 6,000 for the U.S. market.
Porsche’s overall U.S. sales were down 32 percent to 14,310 units through the first nine months of 2009. In all of 2008, sales were down 25 percent to 26,035 units.

Spotted one yesterday!
This dark colored sports car was on the opposite lane heading towards us and what caught my attention was the lower LED lighting similar to Audi's but I knew it was not an Audi. As it got closer it was a Panamera, the looks and the sound was amazing as it passed us. I have to say that it looks great in person, I for one did not like it on pics.....but boy it blew me away!
We have a Porsche warehouse not far from work:
Porsche Cars N.A.-Easton, PA, 18045. - PORSCHE LOGISTICS SERVICES, LLC
I guess I am going to check it out to see what is going on over there, I have a feeling that they have these and who knows what else?

Porsche builds 10,000th Panamera
http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/14/p...months-on-sale
The Porsche Panamera has only been on sale in other parts of the world for three months now, but the automaker has already cranked out the 10,000th production example. The Panamera is built on the same production line as the Cayenne SUV at Porsche's Liepzig plant in northeastern Germany.
So far, Porsche has taken some 9,000 orders for the new five-door grand touring hatchback and it has yet to go on sale in the United States. Porsche is currently planning to build about 20,000 Panamera units annually at the Liepzig factory. The 10,000th car? A silver Turbo destined for Singapore.

Huge customer interest for the fourth Porsche model series
10,000th Panamera leaves the Leipzig plant
Stuttgart/Leipzig. Today, just three months after the new Panamera went on sale the 10,000th car rolled off the production line at the Leipzig plant of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart. The 500 HP platinum silver metallic Panamera Turbo will be delivered to a customer in Singapore.
Michael Macht, Chairman of the Board of Porsche AG: "Sales of the Panamera have really taken off: we have already secured over 9,000 orders. Shortly after it was launched our Gran Turismo won the coveted "Goldenes Lenkrad" ["Golden steering wheel"] and "Auto Trophy" awards in Germany. It has also won many international prizes." The Panamera 4S is proving particularly popular and has a share of 44 per cent - putting it ahead of the Turbo (36 per cent) and the Panamera S (20 per cent).
The company plans to build 20,000 Panamera per year across the whole product cycle. The fourth Porsche model series is being manufactured at the Leipzig plant in the so-called model mix, sharing a production line with the Cayenne SUV. The innovative, highly streamlined production is seen as a model of technological and economic excellence for the automobile industry worldwide.

Finally got to see one in the flesh at the LA Auto Show. The cabin is beautiful, but the exterior styling is hideous. Let's face it, they tried to shoehorn the 911 look into a sedan and failed (Just like the Cayenne). This is still going to sell like hotcakes because of the brand, and I'm sure the driving mechanics are up to par with the rest of the lineup.
