I like the sense of 'brand look' or overall family look they are trying to get in lexus.. it looks like a mix of the new GS, RX and LS in a good way... I first wasn't too fond on the lower bumper, but with the new and more detailed pictures I see and understand what they look they were going for, overall I like it..

Come on ... it's WAY cleaner than the 5.
Can't wait for the pricing. I imagine it'll be around the current model's $33k pricetag for the new IS250 and a little above $36k for the IS350.

I don't like they styling.
This is supposed to look like a sport sedan - not a mini version of the GS (look at both - it really does look alike).
Also - I'm disappointed with the V6 power output and the fact that the 3.5 version is going to be close to 40k.
It's not an improvement over the old IS.

Kudos to Autospies for bringing us the first batch of non-studio shots at the interior.
The entire interior just screams class. Very well done Lexus and Autospies photographer!

2006 Lexus IS 300 Revealed
Date Posted 03-01-2005
New IS 300 will take on the BMW 3-Series packing a 252-hp V6.
GENEVA, Switzerland — Call it the clash of the titans: Lexus vs. BMW. Toyota's luxury division Lexus unveiled a new sport sedan at the Geneva motor show intended to challenge the BMW 3 Series, which also made its worldwide auto show debut here. This is the second generation of the IS and the most powerful with a 252-hp V6.
The new IS represents a full redesign from bumper to bumper, but remains rear-wheel drive. It is based on a shortened version of the new GS platform and its styling bears a family resemblance to the new GS sedans, which go on sale this year.
In Geneva, Lexus showed the IS 250 with a 2.5-liter direct-injection V6, which replaces the previous inline six. It also introduced a new super-eco 2.2-liter, four-cylinder diesel, the first-ever diesel from Lexus, which will go in the IS as well as future Lexus models.
The U.S. will not get the diesel version. Instead, a bigger 3.0-liter version of the new V6 engine, rated at 252 horsepower, will go in the IS 300. And Japan's rumor mill has it that an even higher-performance version, the IS 350, is on tap with a reworked version of the 3.5-liter V6 from the new Toyota Avalon, producing a stronger 310 hp.
The IS features a six-speed manual transmission or a dual-mode automatic with paddle-shift controls.
A convertible could be in the IS lineup by 2006 as well.
What it means to you: Lexus is giving us what appears to be a worthy alternative to the BMW 3 Series with the new IS.

Ive given up on the IS300/350 for now. This is just rediculous. To many different stories. People here claim 3.5L with 310-320, edmunds thinks 3.0L with 252 while Autoweek claims 3.5L with 245hp. I'm not believing anything anymore. IS300/350 doesnt exist to me until I see some Press Releases.

I will agree with the rest of the crowd this is a nice car interior is awesome love the door design inside (my favorite part of this car) while at the same time the car doesn't jump out at me like wow loook at this. Theres so many other cars in this segment thats just as nice with pluses and minuses of course i.e. Volvo S40 / Audi A4 / Acura TSX, TL / Mazda 6 / BMW 3 series / MB C class etc.
I don't know its nice and all but I look at it and its like, nothing that I haven't seen already, they're just trying to keep up with the pack if you ask me, don't get me wrong they're doing an awesome job at it but.... Well heres how I'm trying to explain it.
This is me driving down the Blvd and I come to a light and look across and see one, my real life impressions of this car based on the pictures here in this thread would be this. "Oh look another nice import, what is it a new Acura, Infiniti, oh wait its Lexus oh yeah thats nice'. Is that a bad thing no not at all.
Heres what I enjoy and like to see, its the feelings that cars like my GS gave me when it first came out, like the SC gave me when it first came out, like the previous Gen of the BMW 740iL gave me when it first came out, like the 91-95 Legend gave me when it first came out cars that make my eyes go and then make me fall in with it, (speeet don't tell anyone but I'm starting to feel this way with the new MB sedan named coupe). This and the new GS dosen't do it for me. So I'll set back and wait for the next boat to come in from Lexus and see what happens, we still have the LS and the LX to go.
