If you can, go to Bellevue. The number 1 volume dealership north of SoCal (that's what their signs said) and they do good stuff. I used to work there and the techs are real good guys. Also, they just built a huge brand new service center. I understand about the drive though, sorry to hear that.

Not all Toyota dealers will work on Lexus vehicles. Depending on the zoning of the nearest Lexus facility or if the Lexus dealership is on the same property, they will turn you away.

yup, for a lexus loaner, it's gotta be reserved in advance.

anyway, back to my rhetoric.
a loaner's offered because that's what longo promises to its leads and customers. not because a favor longo selectively grant to its customers and i should be ecstatic about. think of birth right. we've purchased 3 lexus and everytime the sales(from different dealerships) always proudly proclaim "it's a lexus," implying the superb quality and service we will be enjoy hereonforth. all of us are proud to be part of the lexus legend.

therefore, i personally would not settle for "at least they offer a loaner period." longo is too good of a company to be playing word games like that. that's my understanding and respect for longo

naturally, with higher respect come higher expectations. for me personally, it's a matter of helping longo to stand by a commitment it promised for its customers. do you understand what i'm trying to get to?

now, granted that no sensible business organization is looking for new ways to spend more money, but it is a cut longo's gotta make-- either keep the loaner fleet lean or lose some snob customers like me.

edit- or i can just always call in 2 weeks in advance as flip mentioned and a longo service manager has once explained to me

This is new news to me.

BTW the un-trustworthy comment comes from the fact that they tried to tell me my wife's cabin air filter was so dirty and needed to be recplaced as soon as possible - when I told them that it HAD been replaced only 8,000 miles ago - but at a different dealer, the tone suddenly changed to "oh, I see that in the computer, we will just have them blow it out with the compressor and it will be fine".

What's going on with Lexus service these days?
My Lexus service always offer a loaner when the service will take more than a couple of hours.
If it is just an oil change, I want my GS4 back as soon as it's done. I prefer to drive my GS4 instead of an ES3.

I only experienced your cabin air filter scenario from various Honda dealerships.
If you have several Lexus dealerships in your area (I only have two in the entire state ), go to a different Lexus service next time.

The offending dealer is Naperville Lexus. I'm hesitant to go back to my previous dealer, Arlington Lexus, since they wanted to re-do my wife's trans gasket - the same one they had done 4,000 miles ago - but this time they wanted $110. When we reminded them that they HAD JUST FIXED IT, they suddenly did it without charge.

But you have to make the best out of these things. I've decided that since I can't have a loaner and since I can no longer trust Naperville Lexus, I'll make an appt at another dealer, either McGrath or Arlington and bring my daughter with me. We will just play in the cars for the two hours that it takes and have some fun.

I understand that the car is 12 years old; however it is in beautiful shape with 118,000 miles. Of course due to its age, the things that need repair usually are over $400. I think that if I am paying $400+, I should be driving around in a Lexus model loaner, and not a Jetta or Cobalt.

Ken
have u tried another dealership? i've got a 93 GS too but i've had no problems getting a lexus loaner.

and for Naperville Lexus trying to scam with the dirty cabin filter

Totally BS. Complain! I can agree w/ the latter part, as I have that issue too, but the first part is very BS!

Lexus is NICE with loaners. TECHNICALLY, they are supposed to only give them to work that takes over 4hrs I believe. But Lexus knows how having them handy improves customer satisfaction and they probably sell RX 330s to people who get them as loaners and are surprised by how good it is (or ES 330s).

Yea, I actually commented to someone that I did not know how they made any money giving out a loaner car for $40 worth of work.

BUT, the fact is they used to do it and it bites when they take something away.

always a loaner here and to top it off, they actually come to our house and pick up the RX and drop off the Camry ('04-05) loaner (with appt. of course). They do this for us since we're about 40 mins away from them and we surely do enjoy this nice luxury.

i highly recommend Bobby-Rahal Lexus if you're in the south central PA area.
