Default Affordable Aston Martin?

Affordable, of course, may be a relative term, but for you James Bond wanna-bes, here's your chance to get a brand-new Aston for roughly the price of an up-level 911.

Sorry, guys.....I don't know what happened. The correct web site would not transfer properly and I couldn't delete it.

Anyway the new 2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage will start at around 110-120K and be the lowest-price Aston ever sold in the U.S.

OK....I'll have to give you guys the official one. For some odd reason none of the auto-mag sites are transferring properly.

I like the new baby Aston, but not this particular yellow. This car in all other colors than this one that I' ve seen looks way better.

This new Aston will probably not out-perform/handle the new 997 but all Astons look better than any Porsche 911 IMO
Exception : A yellow 911 looks better than a yellow Aston Martin.

The classic Aston color, of course, is British Racing Green.

Isnt that Jaguars color?? Or maybe they both use that classic color. I know that every year at the NYIAS Jaguar always shows off its cars in that cool British Racing Green color. Thats the only green color I really like.

As far as I know, no single auto manufacturer has a patent on the BRG color. It is internationally recognized as the official color for British F1 and Grand Prix cars...which today would probably be the successors to CART. Red, of course, is the official Italian racing color, blue / white for the U.S., etc.....
Jaguar, as you point out, and Lotus have both used BRG quite frequently, and it has been used off and on by a number of other manufacturers as well....some non-British. Mazda, a Japanese manufacturer, for instance, used it in the early 1990's on Special Edition versions of the Miata with tan leather interiors and wooden steering wheels that mimiced the 1950's and 60's British open-top roadsters.

I like it. I think it's a good move even if it's downmarket.

When your downmarket model is still over 100K, you have nothing to worry about.

Yeah.....Buying an entry-level Aston is like moving out of a stock into a "Bond".

The concept looked very good and luckily very little has changed to production except the huge price increase from the projected price. They said this car was going to be a direct 911 competitor and only cost a few thousand more. It was projected at around 80-90,000 dollars. Now they are saying it will be priced from 120,000 to 140,000 dollars way out of NA 911 territory and it will weigh over 3400 lbs so it is unlikely to outperform a 911 but will sell mainly on looks and being an "affordable" Aston Martin??. For 20 to 40,000 more you could get in a v-12 Vantage. Car and Driver had a write up saying they too were disappointed from the huge price increase.
