Let the crying begin..

Close-up shot of the mangled mess on the front pass. of bumper area. Surprised to see the front bumper held up well, and reinforcement is still in place!

The force of the impact was so hard that it pushed the front pass. fender inwards, and not only took out the corner lamp, but also chipped and ripped the windshield fluid tank (there is a hole on the bottom of the tank somewhere). I believe that's the only fluid leaking, but still..

Can this '03 ES wheel be buffed out? Still unsure if dealership can cover the replacement of the wheel (not factory equipment for my '01).

Sorry to hear about that Doug, glad you're okay though.

Good luck with the repairs to the ES. On a brighter note maybe it's a good time throw on an AC kit

EDIT: Just saw those pics

This is how you see my car coming from the rear of the pass. side. What a horrible sight!

The impact of the Corolla pushed some of the components under the hood inwards. It looks like the windshield fluid tubing and the headlight low beam socket are affected.

The last pic. I hope to get my Lex back in like-new condition soon!

Doug!!!!! I feel your pain. I have been there, twice, except not as bad.

Make sure you demand that your deductable be waived and the her insurance company pay for a compatible rental.
The wheel was damaged in the accident... it will be replaced. Don't even think or buffing it out.
Comparing your damage to mine from the drunk driver....I am guessing $6k to $7 including rental.
Don't worry, in time it will look better than when you bought it. Leave it to the professionals.

Let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

OK I just need a clarification on one thing here for the time being.

I want to have my ES repaired at my Lexus dealership, and I suspect that the other party's insurance (Met-Life) will insist on having the work done at another body shop from their "list". Should I just go ahead and bring my car to the dealership and get an estimate to compare with the Met-Life's? I know for sure that the dealership estimate will be much higher than that of ML (my AIG insurance already appraised the estimate at $2,550 after deductible!... ) Yeah right, I bet the front fender alone will cost at least $1K for R&R, paint job and labor

Doug,
I am not sure of the laws where you live, but the insurance laws in a lot of places is that you only need one estimate and you can go where you want and have it done by the people that you trust. Met-Life can't decide where you go. I'm not sure, but i think that you don't even have to get an estimate by them (i can't remember). Maybe someone else can chime in on that one.
