Default First Limited Edition Scion tc

The 2005 tc Release Series 1.0 Makes its Debut at the New York International Auto Show

03/23/2005 New York, NY

The Scion tC sports coupe, on sale since July 2004, takes on a whole new personality as a limited edition. The 2005 tC Release Series 1.0 is on display during media days at the 2005 New York International Auto Show.

The 2005 tC Release Series 1.0 is the fourth limited edition vehicle for Scion. The tC Release Series sits on P225/40ZR18 tires wrapped around 18-inch Enkei alloy wheels with a dark graphite finish. The front fascia receives unique upper and lower grilles. Underneath the hood, a battery tie down, billet oil filler cap and front strut tie bar – all red – add a touch of color to the engine bay.

Black sport seats with red highlights carry the Absolutely Red exterior into the passenger cabin. A cargo mat and brushed aluminum Release Series 1.0 door sills come standard.

Embroidered tC Release Series 1.0 carpeted floormats and a small numbered plaque applied to the interior of each Release Series car add to the uniqueness of the limited edition.

Only 2,500 units of the tC Release Series 1.0 will be available at Scion dealers nationwide beginning in April. The tC Release Series 1.0 model will carry a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,775 over the base price of the tC.

Joining the Absolutely Red tC on display at the show is the 2005 xB Release Series 2.0. All xB Release Series 2.0 vehicles have an eye-catching, bright Solar Yellow exterior. Exterior features include color-keyed side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators, color-keyed rear spoiler, a tunable sport muffler and a metal sport mesh grille.

Inside, stainless steel xB Release Series 2.0 appliqués line the door sills, and black fabric with yellow accents are designed to match the brilliant yellow exterior paint. As a reminder of the exclusivity of this vehicle, a small numbered plaque is applied to the interior of each Release Series car.

Scion will only produce 2,500 units of the xB Release Series 2.0. This second limited edition xB carries an MSRP of $1,375 over the base price of the xB and is currently available at dealerships nationwide.

The xB Release Series 2.0 is on display in Level 1 at the Javits Convention Center.

Some more news from Scion, Flip.....which you may or may not be aware of.

There will be a new Scion concept at the New York Show...though no spy or press release photos are available yet. Rumor has it that it will be a 4 or 5-door vehicle based on the current tC.

Second, I was car-shopping with one of my colleagues from work a couple of weeks ago. ( he at first wanted an xA, then an xB, but went home with a red Matrix ). Anyhow, when we were looking at xA's there was an odd-looking one there on the lot, unsold, with bright red paint ( a color not in the brochure ), custom shifter-handle, TRD wheels, and a number of body trim-clad pieces.....obviously listing for substantially more than the rest. The dealership said they were a special limited production.....only 500 were built.

Are they one of those "dealership special editions"?

I ask because I went to a local Subaru dealership a few months ago to look at the new
Legacy, and they have this brand new Black Legacy with gold BBS mesh wheels,
body cladding, after-market Nav and STI shift *****.

The salesperson told me its a special edition.

No....I believe Koma is right. Toyota and Scion Special Editons are done at the plant.

A new Legacy? NOW you are talking . For the money that is a SUPERB vehicle. Either a Legacy / Outback or the upcoming IS AWD will probably be my next vehicle.

I totally picked Scion to fail. Its shocking how well they are doing. These 1.0 and 2.0 ltd editions are smart moves too.

Oh right, I remember seeing a "Burnt Orange" Xb around SoCal.
Its one of those Scion Specials, right?

I wanted a Red Legacy 2.5 GT Wagon, but will probably wait till 2006.
Give Subie 2 years to workout all the bugs and hopefully they'll throw in some goodies for 06

I just wish Toyota/Lexus will give us a decent wagon..........

I agree. Scion is doing well.....except for the xA. My prediction is that the xA will be the first Scion product to be redesigned or dropped.

The xB, however, seems to be selling better to older people and those who want maximum space efficiency in a small package than it is to its intended target demographics.....late teens and early twenties.

It will be interesting to see what their new concept is at the NY Auto Show....so far, no pictures have been leaked that I know of.

From Scion -

Hey Scion People!

It's time to expand. This Thursday, March 24, we're going to introduce the
t2B concept car at the New York International Auto Show. We want you to
watch it live as it happens.

Be among the first in this country (and around the world) to see what our
team of designers and engineers have been busy creating. Rest assured,
we're taking style, innovation, and versatility and turning it up a few
notches. But don't just take our word for it. See it for yourself live
online on www.scion.com/live/events/events_main.html. We’ll begin
broadcasting at 8.30 am EST this Thursday, March 24.

Onward,
Scion
