May C&D Comparo - M45 Rocks, Game Over
#17
My picked would've been
M45
GS430
RL
E350
530
I like the feel of lowend torque from a V8. I consider that to be a large part of performance. Even if the GS430 was only as fast as the RL's V6, I'd still pick the GS V8. But that's just me.
For the RL to place that high in CD's comparo, RL handling dynamics must be VERY GOOD. More so than what people who've never driven the vehicle would like to believe. RX8 did beat out the more powerful G35 coupe and evenmore powerful 390hp supercharged Mustang Cobra in CD's other shootout. My guess is GS430 is too smooth and lacking in tactile feedback compare to the Acura eventho they both are rated a 9 in the handling. Kind of like condom or no condom.

Damn, the M45 has really blown me away in all the reviews. It's great looking, priced well, and performs with the best of them. Car & Driver has always been biased to the driver aspect so Lexus has never done too well in any of their reviews. Let's face it, they don't really clean up in the "fun to drive" category. They do what they're meant to do very well, and that is give a smooth luxurious ride. This, to me at least, shows C&D's bias (their still my favorite magazine) towards sporty cars. A magazine the raw facts such as consumer Reports always tends to recommend Lexus moreso than their sportier counterparts.
