Those high CA gas prices seem to reflect the limited-market nature of the fuel sold there. It is refined differently ( primarily for emissions ) than gas sold in most other states and sold primarily on the West Coast. I don't like to point fingers, but if you're looking for blame here you can probably blame the CARB ( California Air Resources Board). They are the ones that mandate its use in CA....even in excess of Federal standards.
I'm not able to post pictures for several reasons, but here in the D.C area Northern VA neighborhood my local Shell and Chevron stations are around $2.15-$2.20 for regular (87 octane) , about a dime more for plus (89 octane), and about a dime more for high-test. (92-93 octane).....about the same as 1SICK's neighborhood in Atlanta. Some stations drop their prices a nickel or so, especially for high-test, on weekends.
On the Maryland side of the river, it is more. I've seen high-test there for as high as $2.60...primarily higher MD state and county taxes.

Last night it just went up to 91.9 cents/litre for 87. So I'm guessing premium was 99.9 cents/litre since the pumps can't go higher. That would be considered a discount because premium is usually 10 cents higher than 87.
This is the highest I have ever seen the pumps in my life. I remember years ago when they were 43 cents for 87.
