If memory serves me right, the earlier year boxsters were a bit anemic on the HP numbers. You might want to hit up the 6speedonline forum for their inputs on this car.
In addition, the handling between the 911 and Boxster will be different...Evo did a great writeup on the 911 and Boxster...the Boxster is actually faster on the track then the 911 bc of the midengine placement (based on their test vehicle configurations).
Personally, I would pass on the Boxster and get the 911 bc everytime you see one at the light...your gonna go "what if"

In the hands of a skilled driver that boxter is down right deadly (against its competition.)
I seen a few in action at track events and autox, overall I been very impressed.
Still I would not trade 2 fun cars for one. Especially one so.. pricey to mod.
