Lexus announced today that it has established and, in March, began operating the Fuji Lexus College, an exclusive training facility.
In Japan's increasingly competitive luxury vehicle market, the Lexus brand aims to be "a new global, premium brand for the 21st century" responsive to the growing number of customers who place more emphasis on individuality and a "sense of the best" than they did in the past. Lexus will provide high-quality products and an unparalleled after-sales service and purchasing experience.
In preparation for the launch of the Lexus brand in Japan this coming August, the Fuji Lexus College was created as a Lexus-exclusive training facility to develop the human resources, dealers and hospitality necessary to provide unparalleled after-sales service and purchasing. Based on the concept that "brand development means human development," the facility is being used to provide all personnel who will work at Lexus dealers with extensive, specialized knowledge and advanced skills, as well as to conduct training that will lead to a sharing of Lexus values.
Specifically, the training program consists of courses on customer interaction and direct instruction in product briefings from chief engineers and designers. In addition, full use is made of the benefits of being located within the Fuji Speedway by providing training on the driving performance of Lexus vehicles on the main course and at the driving safety skills training facility, the TOYOTA Safety Education Center "mobilitas." The program includes not only classroom instruction, but also training designed to enhance understanding through personal experience. A total of 14 vehicles can be used simultaneously at the vehicle servicing training facility to provide training in various types of vehicle servicing.
Meanwhile, when Lexus sales operations begin in August 2005, total staff at Lexus dealers will be approximately 2,000 people, including 1,000 sales consultants and 600 technical staff.
