car.
car.
Yeah.....I get tired of hearing Miatas, MR2's, and VW Cabrios referred to as "Girlie" and "Chick" cars. That is ridiculous....just another stereotype.

Yes.....most of here at CL seem to agree that NBA guys and NFL linemen need not apply.
Of course, it was the same way with the cars the Miata was intended to replace.....British Austin-Healeys, Cunninghams, Triumphs, MG's, etc......

i used to sneer at whoever male that drove a new beetle. well, let's just say i think i'm at another stage of my identity/orientation formation. iNOW think the bug convertible is pretty cool, specifically how the top folds into a plate that hangs in the back of the car. it's probably very bad for gas efficiency due to the wind drag, but it looks playful.

I bought a new Miata when I got out of college in '96. Granted, the 1.8 liter engine wasn't quick off the line but it loved to rev in the 4,000-6,000 prm range. I had some Koni adjustable shocks, Eibach springs, Jackson racing sway bars, exhaust, intake, etc. and it was a blast to drive. It was fun going out the the autocrosses and beating all the V6's and V8's (the Mustang and Camaro drivers were especially not happy getting spanked by a 120 horsepower "girls car"). I traded it in when I got the GS400 but I regret it now (trading the Miata, not getting the Lexus). I should have kept that car. But now you can pick a decent Miata up for $7,000-$8,000 and with $1,000-$2,000 in upgrades, it's hard to beat the bang for the buck.
