M A Y B E .... the guy got it wrong and it's 305hp instead
or they could be plain weird like that and have it as before with the soarer, the biggest engine model <v8 4.0> didn't make the most horsepower <2.5 I6>

my guess is people with gs430 now won't be all that happy next yr.
so now you know why i make it so clear that i wont' get the gs this yr

The NEW BMW 5.0 V-8 makes 360hp. If the Lexus 3.6 V-6 makes 350hp, well, see what I am saying?
The Nissan 4.5 V-8 makes 335hp
The Audi 4.2 V-8 makes 340hp
The BMW 3.0 in the M3 makes 333hp and 360hp in the CSL. But that is a high strung, racing influenced engine with a 8k RPM redline.
I wish I could find the article that did say Lexus will become involved with the hp war. 350hp from a 3.5 V-6 would really shake things up. Hell the IS 350 making over 300hp with the same V-6 is going to shake thins up.
My thing is Lexus has stated it is going after BMW (no matter what the uninformed Lexus hater say)and clearly, BMW has already responded with the 335 turbo making 335hp.
Lexus with dual VVTi and direct injection, it is VERY possible. Its just that the GS 450h and GS 460 would have to have incredible power numbers as well.
And then I question is this the Lexus way of things?

i think the gs350 will definitely have the awd option. it's pretty much the same engine except upsizing from 300 to 350, if i am correct?
and mike, i know what you are talking about. i wonder if it has anything to do with i6 to v6. dunno, it's probably just my gut feeling, but i think toyota got something going with the v6. their i6 engine was only doing 215hp no the is300, but somehow with the new v6 300 engine, on the gs300 it's around 250hp, but on the is350 it's going all the way up to 320hp already. that's a big jump with just 0.5L engine size increment
i can see where the challenge is against some other cars (read: bimmer), but you never know what toyota is up to. see, the new 350 engine slap hard on the 430 v8 engine. it's a big jump in power. i wonder if the next v8 engine will get some boost too.
wishful, of course

unless they intend to market the GS430 as the lower model

Does the lexus.jp website state the HP for GS350? Btw, have a unrelated question: what's the RX330 called in Japan b4 the launch of Lexus? Toyota Windom?? or is that the ES?

RX300 is the Harrier In Japan & some other countries. No RX 330 for Japan/Europe & most other countries, they have same new body style but still only have the 300 engine.
