PIN: Toyota Dominates List of Fastest-Turning Models

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. (May 26, 2005) -- Toyota dominated the top 10 list of fastest-turning models in April by grabbing six spots while no other automaker walked away with more than one model placement, according to Power Information Network data.

The list of fastest-turning models in April included eight Asian and two European vehicles, noted executives from the J.D Power and Associates affiliate. A domestic model has appeared in the top 10 only once among the 40 entries in the first four months of 2005, they continued.

Additionally, PIN pointed out that the Prius has not only made the list each month this year, but it has also ranked No. 1 every time. The Prius has maintained an exceptional turn-rate even though Toyota has been increasing its supply to meet demand, said executives.

For example, in April, Toyota dealers delivered 11,345 Prius vehicles, which is more than triple last April's total.

According to PIN, the top 10 fastest-turning models in April were:

1. Toyota Prius. with seven days-to-turn

2. Mercedes-Benz G-Class, with nine days-to-turn

3. Scion tC, with 11 days-to-turn

4. Lexus GS Sedan, with 5 days-to-turn

5. Audi a8/S8, with 15 days-to-turn

6. Toyota Avalon, with 16 days-to-turn

7. Lexus GX 470, with 16 days-to-turn

8. Toyota Tocama, with 16 days-to-turn

9. Honda Odyssey, with 17 days-to-turn

10. Infiniti M35/M45, with 17 days-to-turn

Audi S8??

G-Class is a surprise to me too. A one-of-a-kind vehicle that seem to age really well.

And GS with a 5-day-to-turn rate ranks #4? A typo maybe? Still that's good news for the new GS.

Yeah, wouldn't 5 days make it #1?

j/k

See the 20th explanation of the v.i. form of the word "turn":
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=turn

"To be stocked and sold: This merchandise will turn easily."

the number of days the typical car of a model sat on a dealer's lot before it's sold, in trade terms the "days to turn", an indicator of how fast a model sells.

Wow thats pretty good for a car that looks like a ***caution: sarcasm ahead *** Solara, Accord, Maxima, Altima, Mazda 6, Avalon and a mix of others and does not have a supercharger in it.

Cool.

Man, you guys are sure defensive about this car. No need to talk about the M or feel vindicated about the styling.

The GS is moving like a hero. 5 days to turn is mighty impressive. Nuf said.

Default 5 days?

That may have been April but I get the sense that inventory is building now. Maybe the fanatic early adopters have been served and now the early adopters who want a good price are sniffing around?

Like I said in the original thread, I think the 5-day figure is a typo by missing a "1" before it. Otherwise the ranking just isn't correct.
