Default Benz C55 and CLK 55 discontinued due to slow sales?

Got this reading the Benz forum

its out of production for 06 because of NO demand. That is from the mouth of the man in-charge of determining market demand for the AMG product line in the USA. I might think he knows a thing or two as to why the CLK55 is not being made this year. I spoke to him for over an hour and during that time 2 dealership sales managers came over to discuss their allocation figures and both said that the CLK55's are dead in the water and that they were glad to see them taken from the line for 06 -- those cars were not money makers.

So when there is a 06 Cab and no couple the only reason the coupe is not being made is because there is a new car coming for the 07 model year? Come on Harris that's anti-logic. You are correct in that summer 06 is when the 07 cars gome out in the states but is this anything new or just what the last 20 years as taught us?

C55 is done after 06 also due to a lack of sales and high costs to certify it for 07 crash standards. Many dealerships are telling AMG to cut the C55 from the line-up all together because a 60k C just is not what people want to buy. I say just make it faster and drive better and people will buy it. M3's sell all day long so there is no reason why the C55 should not.
I must admit, here and on most sites, there is no talk of these cars. Its always about the M3 and even new cars like the CTS-V. It would be sad.

Oh well, always loved the CLK55. Very pretty car. However for the price, it should have had the Supercharged engine. Its in the same price range as the E55. C55 I guess is not that surprising either. I've never seen one on the road, and they could be quite expensive as well too(I think more expensive than competitors.)

maybe they should consider that.

Always like the previous CLK more in terms of looks, it's more muscular. The current CLK, I only like in convertible form.

i always find that mercedes car are to overpriced anyways, i really do like all their cars, but the one i espcially like is the c320 sport sedan, and my paying 38k for that is not an option. and along with the c55 amg, i seriously wouldnt pay 60 grand for that car while i could get a M3, caddy. and in that price range, u mind as well go on and consider a CLS500, E500, CLK500, or that S350.

That would be sad if true...I have got to admit that there are very, very few AMG C's on the street...millions of C230/240's but no AMG's...must be playing into MB's head.

I have only seen maybe 3 other C32's in my area, and only one time sightings so I don't think they actually live in my area...It is nice to have something that very few other people have or appreciate.

If anyone is interested in a full RennTech C55 for only lease payoff or assumption there is one for sale on MBWorld...'05 model, 3K miles, RennTech everything including headers, upgraded brembos on all four corners...$54K...crazy....probably putting down over 410+ HP all NA.

I wonder how long they will keep them in the lineup over here. I've only seen one C55 in the wild so far.

yeah i don't understand why they don't put on supercharger on the clk55 as well. the car is pretty much the same level as the e class.... i really wonder why... not enough space?

Probably not. I believe that the CLK is based off of the C-class. It does however look about the same size as the E-class. I could be wrong, but I think I read that somewhere.

But if the case is size, then how in the heck are they going to squeeze a 6.3L engine into a spot 5.5L SC can't?? There has to be more reasons why the CLK is not Supercharged.

U sir are correct.

BTW, the CLK-DTM is supercharged but that is a EURO only model and about $300.000...But its more than the engine...
