I know you want to have fun, but try not to exceed 4000 RPM or do any full-throttle starts for the first 1000 miles or so...this will help the piston rings and valves seat properly and prevent oil-burning later on. Then...at 1000-1500 miles...consider an oil change to get the shavings and impurities out of the engine. Then you can go to normal 3000-5000 mile intervals.

Do you have good-quality fuel there in Jakarta? If not, I wouldn't fret about not being able to get the Japanese turbo....you don't want to put junk gas (or junk oil) into a high-compression and high-heat turbo motor.
Your engine, if not turbo, probably requires the local equivalent of 87 U.S. octane...they should have at least that in Jakarta.

You are right Marshall, the gas we have here is complete junk. Corruption in the big government gas company pretty much caused what used to be pure good gas into the crappy gas that we have here. In my old aristo, with all the mods on it, we only managed a 360hp to the wheels with pump gas, while in Japan, the same identical mods yielded 460hp to the wheels! Amazing! The difference is 30%!

Well I am happy with the current non-turbo engine that I got in the x-trail, since it's got plenty plenty of torque. I wasn't trying to break the tire loose, it was just a roundabout and a somewhat spirited press on the gas that caused the tires to break loose.....I can forget about that now with the 245 tires... .
