BMW to Resurrect M Coupe for 2007
Z4 + 333hp M3 engine + hardtop = some serious fun!! That is, once you get past the Z4-derived styling.

BMW to Resurrect M Coupe for 2007
Date Posted 06-13-2005
MUNICH, Germany — BMW is said to be preparing a new hardtop variant of its Z4 roadster to pit against competitors such as Porsche's upcoming Cayman.
Earlier BMW did a Z3 coupe, as well as a high-performance M coupe, but dropped the hardtop models when it introduced the successor Z4 roadster.
Now rumors are flying through the European press, including enthusiast publications such as Autocar and Autobild, that a Z4 hardtop is in the pipeline and could get M badging in its most potent trim. The top model, however, probably won't feature the earlier-rumored V8 engine, but instead may be powered by a 333-horsepower, dual-overhead-cam, 3.2-liter inline six. A less powerful 3.0-liter variant, producing about 265 hp, will anchor the line.
The current Z4 roadster is slated for a significant face-lift this fall, with the new coupe reportedly being readied for introduction in late 2006. Both models would be assembled at BMW's U.S. plant in Greer, South Carolina. A full redesign isn't expected until 2009 or 2010.
What this means to you: Those elusive fans of the Z3 coupe may get their prayers answered when a hardtop Z4 arrives in late 2006.

Thats awesome news! I see the M coupes around every so often, they have some FAT wheels in the back, great stance also, too bad it looks like a *****.
EDIT: Just checked and those suckers run 13.20 in the quarter, thats one fast pecker!

seriously i don't understand why it take them so long to make the m coupe again. the z4 is obviously a good candidate for a m version. i think it will perform pretty well
so the z coupe will be i6, the m3 will be v8, and the m5 will be v10? very interesting

Sooner or later the hungry wolf is going to come around, and if that ostrich doesn't get out of the sand and run, guess who is going to wind up on the dinner table? And that's one of the things that concern me about BMW management today. They are trying to blame an "unresponsive" public for their own mistakes.....and that wolf is just over the horizon.
Now...I'm not saying the idea of an M coupe, old or new, is a mistake...one of my best friends bought one. But sooner or later BMW is going to have to deal with the fact that its newer designs simply are not as good as the pre-Bangle ones. They simply refuse to do that.
