as everyone know the supra's are way way over price, but what's up wit the Is? i mean for the same amout of money ( if not cheaper) for a 98 supra u can pick up a 02 Is. well my question is, is it worth trying to find a good supra or get a nice lil Is and do the same blueprint as one would do to a supra ( FI and bolt ons)? i notice the Is is about 400lbs lighter then the supra, so that should be a advantage right? or would u go with a supra just because it's a supra? do the supra have a benifits over the Is? if so can someone point them out ????

EDIT: I'm tired and thought you were talking about the LS and not the IS. Several people have dropped the 2jzgte in the IS. is300.net is a great resource.

It's a common enough swap... but it's hard to do correctly. The engine bay of the IS is small compared to the other 2JZ cars (SC, GS, Supra)... so, from what I've read, it takes a skilled shop to make custom mounts to properly push the engine back and move the firewall a few inches... or something (been a while sinec I've read up on it...) and there are only a few truly successful swaps. Most of them are just half-assed. =P
You can do a bolt-on turbo to the current 2JZ N/A in the IS... and pull enough power to be happy w/ it (if you disable VVT-i, which can be done at a dealer or friend w/ the Toyota brick, I believe) Finding an older SC and swapping in a 2JZ would be better =P It's a lot easier... but w/ the drift scene becoming main stream... prices are going up along-side all other FR "drifter cars" (S13 240SX, RX-7, uh... others?)... You can just supercharge the IS... that's fun too =P
