Default 2006 Saturn Vue....damn, just when I was getting used to it.....

GM decides to ruin it and redesign it like this... The interior on the other hand is a big improvement

The word "awkward" comes to mind. The front end looks so weird, like it was pinched off or something.

Looks like another one of those pseudo GM-Toyota steering wheels you and I discussed on that other thread.

I'm also glad to finally see a VUE with wood trim, even if if is fake. That is something it needed and has not gotten till now.

why? could you elaborate? Are you disgusted with its current attempts? (what you think of the Ion redline if so..) Or are you disgusted with the concept of a fast Saturn? And what do you have to say about the upcoming Saturn Sky (pontiac Solstice) 2 seater with a 170 hp na and a 240 hp turbo model in a rwd roadster car?

Obviously I can't completely read his mind, but I think he is trying to say.....correctly, I might add.....is that Saturn achieved success not by high-performance vehicles, but with sensible, innovative, and reliable small vehicles. They have moved further and further away from this in the last 5-7 years, thanks to inept GM management. Their next generation of vehicles will not even have plastic bodies anymore.

Maybe a compromise of the 2 would be better? you can still have sporty innovative cars being made. To tell you the truth someone like me would never look at a saturn especially one from 10 years ago. I can respect that tehy were decent cars but perhaps they got to many complaints from buyers that they pegged a little to low on the exciting factor? Especially when you have competitive makers hitting young people (ie most likely people to buy a cheap economical car.) with the next flashy thing.

Earlier Saturns did have one thing for them they were very light a early 90s sc coupe was south of 2400 lbs dry weight. And I suspect its plastic body is one of the reasons for such a low weight? So therefore a plastic bodied sporty car like a sky or .. an intrepetion of a redline coupe like the ion.. would definitively sound appealing especially if it means a curbweight of 2400 lbs instead of 2900! In addition to great quality and etc etc.

Well...even aside from the performance issue the original Saturns had unique things like the spin-off transmission filter and clip-on-and-off parts that made for easy and cheap service....although the oil filter location was terrible. The 1996-1999's were perhaps the best...they retained the unique Saturn features, and had a better dash and gauges than earlier models, and did not have the engine noise and roughness the early models did, especially the 99's. After 1999, though...it was all downhill.

At first the Honda 3.5L V6 was limited to just the VUE Red Line while the others used the Opel-derived V6 but now I believe it is used on all V6 VUEs.
