GM decides to ruin it and redesign it like this...
The interior on the other hand is a big improvement

I'm also glad to finally see a VUE with wood trim, even if if is fake. That is something it needed and has not gotten till now.

Obviously I can't completely read his mind, but I think he is trying to say.....correctly, I might add.....is that Saturn achieved success not by high-performance vehicles, but with sensible, innovative, and reliable small vehicles. They have moved further and further away from this in the last 5-7 years, thanks to inept GM management. Their next generation of vehicles will not even have plastic bodies anymore.

Earlier Saturns did have one thing for them they were very light a early 90s sc coupe was south of 2400 lbs dry weight. And I suspect its plastic body is one of the reasons for such a low weight? So therefore a plastic bodied sporty car like a sky or .. an intrepetion of a redline coupe like the ion.. would definitively sound appealing especially if it means a curbweight of 2400 lbs instead of 2900! In addition to great quality and etc etc.

Well...even aside from the performance issue the original Saturns had unique things like the spin-off transmission filter and clip-on-and-off parts that made for easy and cheap service....although the oil filter location was terrible. The 1996-1999's were perhaps the best...they retained the unique Saturn features, and had a better dash and gauges than earlier models, and did not have the engine noise and roughness the early models did, especially the 99's. After 1999, though...it was all downhill.
