Default Stock?

Anyone else prefer to leave their cars stock?

I know that mods are extremly popluar, but for me, having a vehicle remain stock just seems classier.

I really think that the wheels that Lexus puts out are consistantly well designed; same for BMW.

I agree... there is nothing like a car that looks nice from the day you bought it. Everything working the way is designed is always a nice feeling too...

But that being said, a lot of manufacturers used to be skimp (some still are) on wheels and such. They are learning that people like big wheels, tight suspensions, and deep exhausts from the factory. They are also showing that if you make a car look tight from the Factory, people will shell out the extra cash for that little bit of individuality.

my goal was to make it look like it should've stock and seem like a nice looking stock Lexus to the untrained eye. that's why I did subtle mods like the OEM SD grill, OEM wheels and L-tune sides.

Cars like Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, Bentley...at that level, they have the package.

Except for lowering, I was very happy with the way my LS came from the factory. When the OEM chrome wheels began flaking, I opted then for an aftermarket over a redo.

Very few cars look good stock. Most have ugly wheels and huge wheel gaps.

About Lexus wheels - the IS and GS wheels aren't bad, and the new LS 18s aren't bad, but the rest are terrible.

BMW has some decent rims, but I saw a 745i the other day on (I guess) the smallest, inset rims they offer, and it looked AWFUL.

I think some of the 1st and 2nd generations can get overdone if you know what I mean. You can make some minor chanes like a grille, not an agressive bodykit, some JDM tail, and 19in or lower chrome wheels, but anything more would ruin the whole car.

No.

and I already stated what I think of prestige and people that buy vehicles for prestigious purposes only.

Im talking about performance mods off course.

So if someone wanted exotic car performance but didnt want to pay exotic car prices screw it youre stuck at stock because its not as classy...

Count me in with the stockers. Usually the only thing I do not from the factory is rubber floor mats for wet weather. In most ( not all ) cases, the less you mess with factory equipment, the better off you are...and the fewer hassles you will have with warranty and insurance coverage.

Of course, there are some exceptions here and there. Some people absolutely cannot stand the stock seats because of backaches, neck pain, etc...... Or after a while they may decide that the suspension is simply too soft or too harsh for them. But cases like these beg the question of why they bought the car in the first place. This is why a thurough test-drive is important before a prospective car purchase.
