If you want to keep the SC400 make a deal with your parents and pay for your own insurance and gas. Can't get any simpler than that. Either that or pay them back for the car and make it your own. Otherwise I think certain used Accords and especially the Prelude would be a good alternative as well as maybe a Celica or Integra/RSX.

If practicality is not a concern, get a MR2 Spyder, which is both super fun and fuel efficient, otherwise, a used tC.
