That's not a wheel...that's the TWEEL.....a revolutionary design from Michelin ( as the pictures show ) needing no air pressure. It was shown at the Detroit Auto Show either this past January or January '04...can't recall right off-hand. Even though Michelin's golden reputation has been tarnished a little by the recent F1 fiasco at Indy, the military is still showing a lot of interest in this " Tweel " design for its ability to sustain battle damage and keep on rolling.

BTW, just to be nitpicky, tire = rubber, wheel = rim > hubcaps.

No...not necessarily. These are not like normal flexible high sidewalls...they are quite rigid.
