Default spent some time with online car configurators.... WOW!

a4 2.0T = 30-42 (auto, loaded, 40,425)
a4 3.2 =35-45 (auto, loaded, 45,420)
s4 = 50-55 (auto, loaded, 54,995)
future rs4 = 60-75

325 = 30-52 (auto, loaded, 51,818)
330 = 40-56 (auto, loaded, 55,281)
current m3 = 48-65 (loaded, smg, 65,931)
future m3 = 60-75

c230k = 30-50 (auto, loaded, 47,871)
c320 4matic = 40-55 (auto, loaded, 54,277)
c55 amg = 53-60 (loaded, 66,967)

current is300 loaded = 35k (i priced loaded at 33,749)

future is250 = ~33
future is350= ~37-45
future is500= ???

my goal was to make them as high as i could get them, yet keep them similarly optioned... i.e. auto, nav, nice wheels, nice leather/interiors, etc

Sweet, but those German cars can be expensive when loaded up. I personally just couldnt spend over 55K for any of these cars. 67K for a C55!! Heck, even 60K!! Ouch. No wonder its being discontinued.

No kidding on the "Wow." According to that data, a loaded 330 or C320 comes out to within $5,000 of the MSRP of my loaded M45. I understand some people like BMW and Mercedes, but when you put it in this perspective, it just seems insane. I'm guessing an even lower-than-normal percentage of those buyers opt for "loaded." But I could be wrong.

this is percisely why i went with a GS instead of an A6. Option for option, the GS is a better "buy" than the A6. Stuff that comes standard on the GS is optional on the A6. Plus it doesnt help that the euro to USD exchange sucks right now it doesnt give a lot of wiggle room for the dealers to negotiate.

Priced out for a fully loaded GS300, the comparably equipped A6 ran 3k more...

I usually buy the cars very basic becaue I know my addiction to modding will soon take over. Audi charges so much when the quality isnt much better than a damn VW

That price gap between the 3.2 A4 and S4 is a LOT smaller than I thought it would be...wow. But I can't imagine too many fully loaded A4's at 46k to be sold. What exactly are the changes between the S4 and the RS4...that part has me confused.

mainly the super highly strung out 4.2l V8 FSI motor...and it has the pulled fenders. There are a lot of weight savings stuff in the car as well. It comes basically fully loaded so there probably arent options to have.

Cool thanks. I didn't think it was anything more major than that, but was kinda lost because this is the first time we've ever had an S and RS of the same model in the US. That's quite the price though.

personally i think Audi should do away w/ the S model because it dilutes the line. Make the S and engine option and make the RS the pinnacle car...much like the M and 55/65 of BMW and Mercedes respectively. At least then the consumer can readily identify with the car because the exterior features would be more dramatically different rather than just a bumper change.

It'll be interesting though to see how it does w/ the impending arrival of the V8 powered M3

Yeah - I really like the "S-line" option you can get on the A6. It's a sport package available for the 4.2 liter A6. Really gets the car looking aggressive.

I think "S" should be an available option on the A4 and A6 lines while the RS ought to have more exclusive marketing rights as Audi's pinnacle performance offering.

A6 w/ S-line package:

well.... just like bmw is planning on having a 335/3 series turbo to lessen the gap between the 400hp m3 and the 250hp 330

the s cars have always been a part of audi, and they wont dissapear... rememebr the s2?

the s was around before any RS came about, and there was an S2 and an RS2... both awesome cars...

there has to be a median car or else you'll have a 200hp a4, 250hp a4, and a 420hp rs4.... that cost 30k more.....

the s4 is 340hp and is right in the middle there, leaves some to be affordable by the middle... those who can't afford the rs4, but those who want more than an a4....

there's also the s6 and the s8... new s6 to have 440hp and the new RS6 to have 550.... audi won't do away with the S models, nor will they make it an engine option

the Sline is the kinda lame thing... more money for the looks of the expensive model... it's like the 3 series with the "m package" wtf....

they should just keep the cars separate, not blend them so the models confuse people

it's more than just engines, it's a different car. different suspension, transmissions, motors, interiors.... it's a different drive on the same chassis

One thing that is just great about the Germans, if you have the dough and patience, you really can cutomize your car to your tatstes. With the Japanese cars, the colors and option packages are always the same. With the Germans, you can add 25-40% to the price with accesories and options.

I wish Lexus would offer the panaramic roof like Benz has on the E-class for instance. And the Germans offer maybe 5 wheel choices for those that dont' want to go aftermarket. And there are tons of leather colors, wood colors etc.

Audi S6 Avant and RS6 were both on the market in the USA at the same time. Both are the same class cars, however one is a wagon and the other is a sedan.

Audi is making some really awsome cars these days. Cant wait to see the RS4 and RS6 on the streets soon(thats if they ever make it to the states).

Hm, I thought the 6 Avant was just the avant version of the RS6, but I just checked it out and it was an N/A V8? It never got much press, damn, never seen that before. Thanks for pointing it out.
