i have the holes on my front bumper, but i dont want to put the license plate there.
cant i just put it up on the front window?

Drill!
Here in Texas, you Must have a front plate. There is a bracket that you can get from Lexus, but it still requires you to drill a couple of holes.

front license plates ARE required in California.
I got pulled over by the CHP for no front license plate but let me off without a ticket or anything. I got a ticket from the parking metermaid for no front plates before on my SC
I still don't have any since I don't have holes or a bracket.
I had my Accord and S2000 for 3 years without a front plate and not a single ticket on those cars.

yes, it is required in cali. but NOT IN PENNSYLVANIA! (unfortunately, my car came from VA, where they are... so i have holes drilled )
if you don't want to put it where its normally put, i'd suggest looking for alternate ways to put it on there. i've seen people somehow put it off to the side as well. i'd probably get it on there somehow... as much as you don't want to, it'll probably cause you less headaches rather than trying to dodge the law everyday.

Yes, you are required to have a front plate on your bumper in California. You can't put it in your front windshield either. Yes, it sucks, but if you get caught you will get a ticket. So attach one by any means neccessary or take your chances, but it is a law.

Can't you CA people throw it in the front windshield and tell the cops a bogus story if and when you get pulled over? It works here in NY to just tell them you have to go buy new screws for your bracket, and until then you can't affix it. It'll work till you get pulled by the same cop

okay heres the deal... (and you guys can go search in the california road safety laws) in summary, the california law just states that the front plate has to be securely fastened and visible. It cannot be lower than 6in. off the ground nor can it be higher than 60in. (5ft.) off the ground. So technically it can be in the dash as long as it is "securely" fastened and "visible"... although a friend of mine got pulled over and tried this excuse, but johnny law told him that the glare caused from the windshield prevents it from being visible. and he got a ticket...
i'm just gonna stick to my excuse... "Sir i was pulled over for my plates yesterday, i bought the screws and bracket to put it on today (this is when i show him my screws, screwdriver, and bracketn in the backseat)... im on my way to put it on right now." i hope this works!
