Everyone want some of Chris Bangles Rear end!!!
After I saw AmethySC post pics of the Chinese car, its amazing something so unattractive, something so unpleasing to the eye, something that CREATES huge panel gaps, something that seems like a BACKPACk on the rear end, like it was just added on, like a HAT, could just SPREAD like wildfire throughout the industry. On the plus size, it does add trunk space.
Here is the Z9 concept
Then the 7
Then the 5
Then the 6
Now look at the COMPETITION!!!
S-class
Maybach
Nissan Teana
I think I'm missing a couple others....

I may be in the minority in this... but I actually think that Chinese sedan looks better than the pics of the german cars posted above. I don't think the chinese sedan looks good per say... but I don't think it looks bad. Not too shabby for being such a late-comer into the game.

I don't understand either. When the 7 series was released the styling got the most criticism. I thought it would die an early death there, but instead it has spread. Bangle butt has come back with the strength. It seems as if Toyota and the US automakers are the only ones so far that are immune. BTW, I actually like the 5 series since it doesn't look as "Banglized."

Actually, Toyota is not immune to it. I just looked in the other thread on Car Chat about the chinese sedan.... and its pretty much a rebadged Toyota Crown. Shares its lines VERY VERY closely with the Crown.

The Jetta went on to become....and still is.....VW's best seller in the American market.
The main reason it has not worked as well for BMW is that the Chris Bangle cars combine a frumpy trunk-lid with other disagreeable things as well...things like I-Drive, shoddy workmanship, and overly-complicated electronics.

The new 5 and 3 series have grown on me. The rear ends are still not as desireable, but overall...it's not that terrible.
