July 2005 Sales:
E = 5,506
5 = 4,381
STS = 4,041
GS = 3,374
M = 2,755
RL = 1,741
A6 =
What's surprising is that sales of the STS, GS, M and RL have just skyrocketed (by many thousands) since last year, and yet sales of the E and the 5 seem pretty much unaffected.
The market for $50k sedans has practically doubled in size from just a year ago. Wonder where the buyers are coming from.

Seems like MB got a better bounce from the new engines than BMW did.
TSX sales have almost caught 325 sales -it's pretty amazing to see its sales keep going up after 2 1/2 years on the market.
All of these increases can't be sustained - a leveling off or drop is around the corner.

Looks like the E class has come back really strongly with the new E350, it had slumped for a few months & dropped below the 5 series in some of the past months . . .

Thanks again for this. Well incredible but every car in this segment is either all new or revised. So that is one reason for the big sales. Second, its summer, so more people buy in the summer. Third, the STS is selling, lets not forget rebates then the current Employee Pricing. The RL still is behind to reach its goal of 20,000 units in a year. 1700 a month would make it, if they did that every month. They haven't. They need some months over 2,000 to meet that goal.
The A6 HAS to be a big disapointment, since its all new like the others, has fared well in comparisons and it is the VALUE German car, thousands less in price. I suspect the styling, it looks like the old one with a grill slapped on it and the interior, its just too damn confusing. Audi reliablity may scare people off.
BMW and Benz, you got to give it to them, it doesn't matter what happens in this segment, they own it. The M35/45 had a big jump, ya'll saw the $399 lease deals I've posted for the M35. I will say people are talking good or bad about it. No one is talking about the A6 or RL.
I really think what is going to jump start the GS is the 450h. Why? Because it will be the ONLY luxury sport sedan hybrid in the world. What is going to happen is celebrities are going to jump on it like the 400h and that affect will trickle down through the lineup. I really think the hybrid power and reviews are going to shock people.
And since BMW/Benz already refreshed they're cars, and with Acura having no serious RL updates, the A6 just got all new engines, the M35/45 with no new engines coming, the STS already is selling the STS-V (what a car), the GS will be the ONLY car with a serious engine update in 2 years.

In talking to a friend that works at an Acura dealer, look for a de-contented RL to appear shortly to help with sales. My comment to him was that the RL is faster and has more technology than the GS and is getting killed. Why? Because 1) the Interior and Exterior of the GS blows away the RL (you don't realize this until you sit in both of them) and 2)the RL is just too small.
If Acura were to put the SH-AWD into the TL and kick the HP to 290 or so, they would have a killer car on their hands. Of course nobody would buy the RL then.
The A6 is suffering from the fact that it just doesn't stand out and its lease numbers are terrible.

525i = 1688
530i = 1847
545i = 657
5series w/o 525i = 2504
GS300 = 2785
GS430 = 589
GS = 3374
once the GS450h, GS350, and GS460 are on sale, I think the GS will break the 4000 mark.
I think the RL is selling nicely for a fully loaded V6 awd sedan
