Modern Marvels "Lube Job" episode
Any of you catch this episode on lubricants?
It was a pretty light go-over of the development of lubricants and various applications from basic machinery to space craft. Of peticular interest was the use of synthetics in these applications. Hmmm...
Those of you that caught it...do you think it was slanted toward the synthetic industry?

The show came off pro synthetic. With all the discussions we have in the "Maintenance forum" this was an interesting area. DIscussions from Dupont chemists and a brief history on Amsoil.
SouthPark...was that the one where Cartman was playing robot? If so, watched them both.

The part about oxidation and synthesizing out the unwanted characteristics of dino had me When you look at the development of lubricants from animal products to today's synthetics...the evolution of the product IMO speaks for itself. Only a matter of time before dino is obsolete.
I'm sure the debate over dino and syn will continue on.
