Isn't this all a bit overblown. Yes, $3 is a big psychological mark, but let's step back and do some objective, rational math. Most of us fill up maybe once a week. Let's say that's 15 gallons, and let's say we've all gotten used to $2 gas but $3 seems crazy. So we're spending $15 more per week on gas, which over the course of a year adds up to $780. In how many areas of your life do you have a very easy, flexible $1K spend fluctuation? Lots, most likely. This increase in gas prices will do NOTHING to your personal economics, when looked at in the big picture. So get over the irrational fear of it and move on.

i agree. 780 does seem like a lot for a year, but if you think of it in shorter terms, it's not that bad. if you save a buck on lunch and dinner everyday, it all evens out. for many, all it means is just simply getting water instead of a large coke. or, quit smoking!
it still does hurt to see gas being 3 bucks a gallon.

Well i just got home fron work and there was a 6 cents difference between West palm beach county and Martin county where i live... I'm talking about premium so that was 307 compared to 301.
I know i've said this before but they should have a increace in pay from our employeers because of cost of living They keep raising prices but not our salaires.. I just don't get it... How do they expect us to drive and live like nothin is going on... Plus there's already people done sizing there cars because of this... Where's the real president when we need him

Wow. Folks, this is something. I have NEVER seen inflation like this......and I lived through BOTH of the 1970's gas crunches, with long lines to boot. My local Shell station went up 15 cents yesterday and another 18 today. 87 octane was $2.96 and 93 was $3.19 I gassed up while I could with a measly 5-cents-off coupon. I got a whole stack of coupons but they don't mean much now.
The station manager actually sympathises with us. He posted SIGNS on the gas pumps saying that gas prices are TOO HIGH and that he needed OUR help.....call Shell Customer Relations at 1-800 (whatever the number was) and voice your opinion.
I honestly don't know, though, what the people at Customer Relations can do. Yes, they can pick up the phone and listen to a lot of people b - - ch. So what?....... what will that accomplish? That cannot undo the damage that Katrina did and restore the lost refineries, drilling rigs, and damaged pipelines.

In Charlotte, NC I filled my tank on Monday and paid 2.59 for mid grade. Today most stations are out of gas after long lines last night and this morning and I saw many stations posting 3.49 for regular and 3.59 for mid grade.
