Actually, you are mistaken.

Firstly, only Sentra and Altima power ratings are given, so other car's ratings are yet unknown.

Secondly, the asterisk at the bottom mentions J1349 June 1995 ... which is the current OUTDATED standard.

The new standard, J2723 is an update on J1349 (rev 08/04). Last year in August, J1349 was updated and the new ratings you see from say Acura are based on the Aug rev. of J1349. J2723, the new standard is the same as J1349 (rev 08/04), only differing by a third-party witness during testing. What this means is that the engines are dynoed whie being witnessed as well as certified by a third party, making it next to impossible to fudge numbers.

Just so you know, Acura's new numbers are based on J1349 (rev 08/04), which means their numbers WERE NOT third party verified, so there is STILL a chance they fudged their numbers.

As far as I know, Toyota's new numbers WERE third party verified, and that so far only Toyota and GM are using J2723.

I hope that wasn't too confusing

Here's a link ... if it helps any
