that's interesting...i thought toyota's port was at san pedro b/c my teacher who sometimes works at the docks said that he would drive lexus' off the ships

This is outrageous. Prolonged use like this this ( more than about 50 miles or so) can screw up the differential / final-drive units if the mismatched tires are on the driving wheels and not of equal diameter but it can also create handling and braking problems if the rubber tread compounds are sustantially different as well....especially without ABS, T/C, or stability control.

That's why donut and temporary-use spares are usually limited to 50 miles or so at 50 MPH or under.

San Pedro/LA Harbor or Port/Long Beach Port etc same area. He probably didn't know exactly what city it was in.

My GS had 2 miles on it when I picked it up, and I know it had only been in the dealer about 3 hours!

haha I'm a longshoreman in nyc and sometimes work on car ships you dont wanna know what some people do to these cars while taking off the ship...esp lexus's...sorry to bring up an old thread I'm just sitting here bored..

for the record, the vehicles are not "deactivated" prior to getting on the trucks. there is lots of stuff that doesnt work until after pdi, but the odo is not one of them
