Corvette went under Semi Tractor Trailer

Some of the newer semi-trailers have metal bar assemblies that hang down below the back of the trailer that prevent this from happening. These are welded, solid, steel and are a lot stronger than the flimsy so-called " guard " that this Corvette hit. A low-slung car like this will just hit the metal barrier and come to a stop without going under.

I knew a girl whose dad was a trucker, he pulled off on the side of the road at night to take a nap. In the middle of the night a car full of teenagers went under the truck, beheading the driver and passenger and crushing and killing the other 2 kids in the rear seat. Their deaths could have been avoided but hey that costs money that to some execs is just not worth spending. It is sad we still have corporations who value saving money more then saving lives. Kind of like Ford and Chevy execs covering up faulty exploding fuel tanks in some of their vehicles because they figured it would be cheaper to pay the lawsuits to the killed family members then to pay to have the exploding fuel tanks corrected. What great morals.
And as far as the exploding Ford and Chevy tanks go, the Ford cases were pretty much legit....especially the early-70's Pinto, which was an inexcusable design, but the "Chevy " ones on the C-K pickups were actually staged by TV producers doing a show on them. NBC, in particular, admitted that they were wrong and apologized.
The Ford Crown Victoria explosions......which killed some police officers on the side of the road......only involved rear-impacts at high speeds.
