heads up display.
They are different cars, not really in the same class ( not meaning that in a bad way)

I personally think a modded 645 is something really nice, and so is a SC430, however in the automotive tuning industry, the BMW is certainly a hotter bed right now, and obviously this correlates to public perception. The 645 was new for 04 whereas the 430 was new for 01 or 02 (??) so theres a large gap, not to mention the SC was developed as much of a luxo-GT, whereas the 645 is a sports-GT (IMO)
I'd probably go with the 6series myself, my question would simply be which has better interior space? Thats one thing I dont think I have seen mentioned.

Just my opinion but I think the 645 looks waaaaay better than the sc430. It's one of the few cars I would drive stock...and that's saying a lot cause I have never done that in 32 years of driving. When it comes down to it, my values of car ownership are: sleekness, reliability, sporty, comfort and cool factor. The sc430 is not sleek, doesn't seem comfortable because of it's small interior lacks coolness...that thing that seems like a personality. The 645 is all of these except possibly reliable. Even that may be better than expected. If I could own only one it would be the sc430. If it's a second car, definitely the 645.

I've really enjoyed my time with my SC430 (and my wife's RX330, for that matter) and I certainly appreciate all of Lexus' wonderful attributes, but at the end of the day, I miss the "feel" that I was used to from years of BMWs. Consequently, when my 2006 650i Coupe arrives in November, I will happily trade my SC430 in and not look back.
Lexus is routinely lauded for their customer service and rightly so. However, I am fortunate to have a fantastic BMW dealership that has always been just as good - and in many cases, even better - than the Lexus stereotype. And, their service department is open longer hours and the maintenance is free. Lastly, they don't pressure sell additional services every time I take my car in for service like my Lexus service writers often do (they tried to get my wife to replace all 4 tires on the RX at 15,000 miles, for instance, to "increase safety").
As Gene mentioned, they both are great cars, albeit very different beasts. I've been happy with the SC. Now, I'm excited about a change.
