I would imagine that the IS350 would also easily win against the C320 replacement. Only thing negative about the IS is the lack of a manual tranny option...
The negative about the C350 is that is costs over $50K fully loaded...basically you are in C55 territory at that price with many of the options as standard equipment but no manual tranny. For the same price you are looking at a very nicely modded IS350.

need a 1/4mi time for this thread to have any meaning
0-60 times are of little use
doesn't sound like the engine is underated in the slightest to me.
a 268hp 5spd Avalon clocked 6.0sec not too long ago.

From a friend who sells Lexus ... a colleague reported 0-60mph in 5.3sec for the IS350 (in car GPS set-up) during a ride and drive, which isn't very far off from Car & Driver's almost un-believable 5.1sec time. I didn't believe the C&D time, but now I'm thinking this car is just that fast!

306hp in a 3500lb car doesnt equal up to 104mph trap speeds... if it did then the 98 GS400 which weighed about the same that made 300hp would be running 102ish traps... not 97-98 like it does stock.
Why? easiest explanation is that its underrated by about 25hp
or that the car weighs a good bit less than stated (which i think 3500 is right on considering the chassis is from the GS)...
or that the 6 speed auto is HELLA more efficient than for which we give it credit...
or it might be a combination of all these things
