Talking IS 350 watch out! C350 0-60 in 5.5 seconds! (btw, its a manual)

I was reading the new C and D I believe it was (actually not sure which mag) and they tested the new C350, the same C-class with the new 3.5 V-6 dropped in it and acceleration was very impressive. This was AMG C32/C43 time!!

hahah competition is great. Someday these same cars will go 0-60 in like 0.0005 seconds.

Sweet. Good looks, high hp and tq and a 7speed auto or an option 6speed manual. Sounds good to me. Unfortunately the price is way to much for me. My moms best friend has a C320 (I believe its the Sport model) and paid around or close to 46K. Thats what was on the MSRP. Nice car, but man its expensive when loaded up.

Great point about the price. It is very expensive. We are talking S4 and M3 money pretty much.

Wow, is the C350 really that fast? I would have never thought so. That is quite impressive. Makes me wonder how the C280 will be since it has respectable HP and torque figures as well.

SOmething doesn't add up here:

2006 Mercedes C350
Engine3.5L 24-valve V-6 engine
Net Power268 hp @ 6,000 rpm
Net Torque258 lb-ft @ 2,400 - 5,000 rpm
Curb weight 3,495 lb/1,585 kg (3,685 lb/1,671 kg with 4MATIC™)
7-speed Automatic Transmission

I'm betting it was a "hot" car given to the press. 5.5 0-60mph times usually equate to mid to high 13 second 1/4 mile ET's, which would put the car around 300-350hp, espeically given it was an auto, with that sort of weight. I'm more inclined for what they quote for performance:

Acceleration1 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds

Unless of course, their hp claims are bogus.

I know you meant it as a joke, but that is the attitude and reasoning that has led to some of the insane figures of HP and torque we see in cars like the top-level AMG's, the Cadillac Sixteen, and the most insane car of them all...the Bugatti Veyron. Where do we stop? Will we end up fitting NASA-designed rockets on these cars with fuel tanks the size of swimming pools and blast-off HP in the millions?

Cool. 0-60 in 5.5!

I could use that kind of fire power on the 10 West toward LA!

Unlike other manufactures who over inflate their spec figures, MB had always under rate their HP and acceleration times. The CLS has been tested by magazines to get 5.4 sec to 60 but MB still claims a 5.9 sec on their web site. In C350s case it is also under rated, both HP and acceleration.

I'm calling BS too. 268 HP hasn't ever gotten a car to 60 in 5.5, unless using forced induction or something.
