Hyundai RWD sedan is reaching the final stages
MT mag is reporting that the 5-series-like (Dynassty-based) Hyundai RWD sedan is reaching the final stages of development. There are two spy shots, one of which is showing the interior of the Dynasty-based sedan and design-wise, it looks like a mix of S-class and RX300/Avalon. Very impressive. It is expected to make its debut in 2007 as a 2008 model. The wheelbase is 116 inches long and it's expected to be powered by a 3.8L V6 making about 270HP. There is a possibility of a V8 since Huyndai has developed a 4.5L V8 engine with Mitsubishi which fits under the hood of this vehicle. The tranny is expected to be a 5 speed automatic. The platform this vehicle will be based is called the BH platfrom internally.

I think this car would be very successful if they brand it something other than Hyundai......They should start up a luxury brand like the rest of the asian companies.

3.8L and only 270? Kinda disappointing. I'm interested to see long term results from the whole switchover on Hyundai from Korea --> US manufacturing. I actually like the new Sonata though

You have to remember that Hyundai has some practice in luxury... This is the car that Korean diplomats, business men, and politicians roll in- Hyundai Equus.
Junction Produce Korea has even fitted some custom parts and Scara wheels to a Equus thus making a VIP Hyundai.
And edmunds has caught the 2008 Equus being test driven in Cali...
The Equus has been a domestic only Korean car for some time. Hyundai has made some suggestions that they want to release a version in the States to compete against the Toyota Avalon. According to edmunds, its 11" longer than the Avalon.

When there's Infinitis and Nissans making 290-300hp (old SAE of course) with an older-gen V6 like the VQ, there's no excuse for Mitsubishi or anyone else for that matter to have a big V6 like that and make paltry amounts of power.
