Question Deep snow and water SUV

After seeing all the flooding going on in New Jersey today I was wondering which suv's without modifications do clublexus members recommend for going through deep water and snow?

VW Touareg?

Grand Cherokee?

4Runner?

Landcruiser?

LX470?

GX470?

Other?

I recommend 4Runner...

we take that thing to tahoe every time and it drives in the snow like a champ...

but it also has semi-off road tires...

If you are looking for water fording vehicles. I would go with something a little bit more "no-frills." There are too many electronics to go wonky in luxury SUVs.

The two I would recommend:
Toyota 4Runner
Jeep Liberty

LandCruiser...2006 models have the adjustable height suspension that gives it the heighest running clearance (equal to the LX470) than the others. The Cruiser also lacks all the electronics than the others listed. Cruisers have proven their reputation time and time again.

Mid-80's 4 Runner would probably be the best bet. They're durable as hell and cheap. I mean, I would cry if I tried to take on more than my Land Cruiser could handle and seized the engine. Second option could be a Jeep Wrangler, and then you could do some serious muddin' too.

Would think the Hummer would be able to handle all that no problems. Adjustable tire pressure, raised air intake snorkel, massive clearance, optional gun turret... If you're looking for something more practical, you really can't go wrong with the Landcruiser or Range Rover... though the LC would likely be more reliable.

On this list, the Land Cruiser and the LX470 are probably best suited for deep water, but they also are the 2 most expensive. Both have been very reliable.

The Range Rover and Mercedes G-Wagon are also well-suited....and they are expensive as well. The Land Rover has not been reliable...the G-Wagen, a question mark (?).

A word of caution, though....DON'T try and cross deep water with a moving current in ANY vehicle...you could be swept away.

Personally I would pick a Land Rover Defender (or even the series 1 or 2... the Ace Ventura 2 style rover). They look great and are tough.
