Yes,the X BMW's are really AWD. Not sure what you mean by a "front drive shaft" - Yes, it actually has 2 front drive shafts, one going to each driven front wheel... Oh, sorry I was explaining the axles, not drive shaft - yes, I believeit does have a front drive shaft out of a transmission mounted transfer case.
