RL = POS?

Wish I had that POS. . I guess it's all relative. For people who drive Bentley, the MB and the Bimmer become a POS.

I guess MSRP is only meaningful at a total redesign. The MSRP is pretty much meaningless 3 months after most redesigned cars go on sale. Supply & demand will dictate the actual prices afterwards.

It's getting terrible reviews and selling way below MSRP. Gotta be a reason for that.

And where did you see those terrible reviews? It has been ranked higher in many comparison reviews than the GS300/GS300 AWD. The only reason it doesn't sell well IMO is because of the Acura brand image not warranting a $49k price tag just yet. The fact that it has to come fully loaded and thus requiring a higher base price didn't help either, though.

It's a very nice car. I drove one and the only thing to disappoint was the price tag. It is the only thing IMO that is holding the car back.

I did a search on the RL in these forums and I was surprised to see that it's been brought up more than any other car in the past few months or so. Why is that? Most of the time it's just getting bashed by people who have never even sat in one, let alone driven one. Makes me wonder if there is an insecurity issue or something.

Yes its been brought up way to many times along with the Infiniti M and G.

Personally I think its a sweet car, I can think of many other cars that I like more but the RL is still cool. I've driven it plenty of times, but I just dont think it was worth the 50K asking price. Thats all.

I think the RL, like most other Acuras, carries the best value in class and is well worth the asking price IF the brand equity is not taken into account. Unfortunately, most people buy luxury cars for the badges too, and Acura as a brand simply isn't quite there yet.

I LUV Lexus however if i could land an RL for 40k versus 45k for the IS350.... I would think thats a good deal...

My brother has an RL black / black with wood wheel/shifter.... That is a sweet machine... Alot of technology for the money

PLease no debates as I know there was already a thread on that issue....lol

Can someone explain why the RL is an overpriced and the GS300 AWD is not? How about the M35X? All of these cars go for $50K and I believe that the RL has the most features and I know it has the most HP. I just don't understand why it is considered overpriced and the others are not.

i dont think it's overpriced....it's just that people dont see acura as being a premium brand when compared to MB, BMW, Lexus

The RL has 3 MAIN reasons its not selling:

1. It looks like a STRETCHED OUT Honda Accord with the headlights from the Odessy minivan. I saw these cars parked one behind the other in the same dark gray color a few days ago and i was amazed how similar they look, everything from the overall shape down to the door handles is styled exactly the same.

2. The Acura brand is WEAK. Most people buy luxury cars for the brand name and could care less about anything else. If the average consumer has a choice between a 50k Lexus GS AWD or 50k Acura, 95% of the time they will pick the Lex. The same way most people buy Eclass and 5series rather than the GS, its all about the brand name.

3. The PRICE...........It costs too much. People who currently own the 35k TL, Acura's core customers cant upgrade to the 50k RL, the gap is too large. As far as new customers, there is no reason to buy the RL bec the main LUXURY brands at this 50k price point all offer an AWD sedan, such as GS AWD, 530xi, E 4matic, A6, STS. I dont see any MB or BMW customers jumping ship to Acura when they can get the same type of car with a bigger brand name for a few thousand more.
