Mercedes goes after the Subaru Outback.

So Mercedes wants to challenge the Subaru Outback in the AWD wagon category?
I got two words for them....good luck. It takes more than just HP to make a quality AWD product.
Though Mercedes excels in safety features, they are notoriously bad in electronics and hardware. Yes, they did make the tough-as-nails AWD / 4WD Gelandewagen ( G-Wagon ) but that was a military-derived vehicle for another purpose.
In all fairness, though....this site appears to be influenced by bloggers and may or may not be an official M-B release.

Hmm, "Subie killer"? Yeah, what a huge compliment - I hardly think that this car was developed to take over Subaru market share. Would anyone really be thinking this: "Let's see I'd like a reasonably affordale Legacy wagon, or wait, there is also this $100K + MB machine, wel I just don't know anymore". This wagon looks like a monster, I would love it. Yeah this generation was loaded with problems, one of the worst machines that MB has ever made (aside from the ML), but the 4-Matic system is solid and has been around for a long time. A great car to pick up is an early '90's 4-matic 300E. These 300E's were the last of the true Benzes and had the traditional build quality and assembly techniques of Benzes of the past.... And the 4-Matic's were all wheel drive - cool, and reliable.
